Yes it does snap shut if you want more snap you can add two pieces per side for a very tight snap.. I got the tapes at the dollar store for a buck each . To cut up it is a great price. The other one my hubby ruined and I claimed it. Suzanne

i love the fabric and the metal tape is it just 2 pieces sewn into the top hem i think this is a wonderful idea for may things pencil cases for one ..thanks for sharing your idea...soozie

very pretty, already claimed the metal measuring tape but can`t find the turorial to sew it in. I kown it had a pic with the ends of the metal tape tapped with tape to secure the sharp endes.

I had a look at the tutorial and it seems easy enough so I'll give it a go. Just when I thought there was no other way of making bags . . . I like the fabric in your bag very much.
