When doing a bookmark, I have a stiff felt. Do I still need to put Stabilizer on the back???

You could use a tearaway - if you thought you really needed one - but I bet you don't.

thanks that is what I did will try without next time.

I did one that had a satin stitch at the end. I did all the embroidery then before the satin I put a piece of cutaway on the back to hide my stitches. It worked out well.
