This reminds me of when I raised 4 baby Mallard ducks from week old babies that I purchased at the feed store in 1975 in Louisiana. They can become very attached to you. Mine use to come when I called them from their day of foraging outside of our yard. I loved those ducks & it hurt when I had to give them away because we were in the Military & moving. I had one county neighbor lady that said she would take them but I knew what she wanted them for. No way was I going to let her have them. I made sure I gave them to another family that had kids & promised me they would not eat them.
Thats like eating your pets, which I would never do.
They are beautiful!

Don't know Henry's and Matilda's story. Are they rescued or did they just drop by from time to time? We had neighbors with a blow up pool for their kids and they had ducks drop in for a swim.

We have a creek run off that runs through the back of our yard and these 2 birds have been coming every year for 6 or 7 years and we feed them.....they waddle from the back yard up to the front yard under our huge big tree and up to our front porch so we can feed them.......

Oh Vicki, I just love Henry and Matilda! Aren't ducks amazing?!?! Did I tell you one year in second grade we hatched a chicken and a duck? I took my class to a farm and we actually saw the chickens and ducks and their nests. We took home 18 chicken eggs and 6 duck eggs I think. All that finally hatched were one of each, Quackers and Peepers. The duck would follow me around, and the chicken would follow the duck. The librarian said it was so funny to see my class go by the door, in line, first the kids, then me, then the duck and then the chicken. We kept losing our chicken though and would have to go looking for her! After school was out they went to live with my friend Grace on her farm in Nebraska. They loved it there eating bugs in her garden. The chicken would get really upset when the duck would swim in the horse trough, and the duck didn't like it when the chicken roosted at night. They were best friends. So MUCH FUN! This is the picture that was in the paper.
