I call this design, my saddle bag. I cut this pattern out of a couple priority mail envelopes...thus the name! Anyways, I have made two now...this is the first one. I had to lengthen the front flap piece for future purses, but other than that, this pattern went together like a breeze! The inside is lined with the same fabric as the back pocket. The pocket has a zipper across the top of it, sewn with a little star decorative stitch. The design, I would have to look up again, but this is the second time I've stitched this one out and it's another keeper...and was free, too! I think I'm a purse-a-holic these days...I just LOVE making them and coming up with something different, too! Thanks for looking...Kim

Kim, this is pretty and you should find out where you got this design if it was free - everyone will want it. I think this bag will be a big hit. And I think you might be right with the purse-a-holic thing - Hehehe! You will make a money with these? *4U

I love this purse. You did a beautiful job, the colors of the flowers are striking against the color of the purse. Well done!

Kkcogle, you and Simplyrosie are inspiring me to make Purses. Bought patterns the other day. started playing with them and discovered there was a seam where I wanted to put a design. Got paper, ruler and sharpie out and messed around about an hour, but still couldn't get what I wanted. Wish I had your talent to draw my own patterns. By the way for the rest of you ladies McCalls # 4794 is similar.

Maybe you could stitch the design on a seperate piece of fabric and then add this as a pocket over that seam...??? I bet if you thought on it over a couple nights, you will figure it out! Can't wait to see your first one.

What kind of material is your beautiful bag made from kk? You did such a beautiful job.

I like working with at least a twill weight for the front...and it makes a good lining, too...but a cotton or cotton/poly blend for the lining is still fine. I do add fusible batting to the front piece, so they have some good structure to them. The aqua on this bag is almost a cross between a soft corduroy and a chenille. A piece that I found on Ebay...cheap! Like 5 yrds...$2.00...so I will be making tons of purses out of this great stuff!
