This quilt is a good project to fillin time all three pieces are cut 1 top, 2 wadding, 3 backing and completed then each hexagonal is hand stitched together. ther is about 145 hex's amd 1/2 hexes aroung the edge before final edging it seem to take forever but at last it si finished and my Sole parent Son has it on the bed in his spare room ( our room when we visit) you can use up a lot of leftovers in this quilt.

the green is the backing top and wadding cut the same size an the backing larger and folded to the front hemmed.

Did you hand sew the backing onto the front also? It is beautiful and you got to use all sorts of colors.

YES YOU CUT TOP PIECE AND THE WADDING THE SAME SIZE AND THE BACKING 1/2-3/4 INCH LARGER THEN FOLD THE BACKING OVERTH WADDING AND ON TO THE FRONT TURN A HEM THEN HAND STITCH IT INTO PLACE AND WHEN YOU HAVE MADE ENGOUGH YOU HAD STITCH THEM TOGETHER
What a lovely quilt and what a clever way to make it!!! I have soooo many scraps, I think I might give it a try

Gorgeous! What an immense amount of work. I hope you put a label on it giving your full name, location and date finished. That's the minimum for historical dating. I am sure this will be treasured!When they do documentation of quilts and appraisals this really adds value.

I got a small shoe box full of pre-cut hexagons and have not gotten the nerve up to tackle it yet. I like the outer framing of each hexagon. Did you border each one, than stich them together?

hello dianne, you cut the wadding the same as the top and the backing
1/2 - 3/4 inch larger sandwich them together fold the backing back over the wadding and the top piece. the backing(1/2-3/4") is now laying on the top piece with this piece of backing you fold it under itself to make a hem hand stitch it in place and then i stitch in the ditch to machine secure the 3 pieces together ...then the task of hand stitching them together and then it is finish if i can be of any further assistance please p.m. me ...soozie
