I made this shirt and matching jeans for my oldest granddaughter. I used mylar to make the dragonflies wings shimmer. The design is Stacked Dragonflies from Embroidery Library. It is not made for mylar. I skipped the fill stitch on the wings so the mylar would show through. I will have to wait and see if the mylar stands up to many washings.

Thank you. I think the shirt will be okay because the stitches are far enough apart but the smaller design on the jeans may lose the mylar. But the design itself is pretty cute so if the wings lose their shimmer she will still have the colorful dragonflies. :)

Thank you. I have been wanting to do something like this (shirt and match jeans) for quite some time now.

This will either be birthday (Nov) or Christmas if Grandma can wait that long :) But I will update how the mylar withstands the washings. Thanks.

Thank you. I don't think I can wait for either her birthday or Christmas. I think I will have to send early. I am anxious to see how she likes it and to see if the mylar lasts through the laundry. :)

Very nice work. Dragonflies on their own are usually beautifully but the mylar certainly makes them "sparkle". Lovely.

Thank you. That is what I thought too. Even if the mylar doesn't last through the washings she will still have beautiful dragonflies.

Thank you. Her birthday is near Thanksgiving (US) and I don't think I can't wait that long so see if she likes and if the mylar stays put. Grandma is getting anxious to sent it to England. :)

I am sure she will love it! What kind of mylar did you use? Where can I get it from?

I bought mine at JoAnn Fabrics (USA). It was Easter gift wrap on Clearance so an entire roll only cost me $.75.
