Today is May day where I grew up. we had a special tradition - the kids made May baskets and would put them on door steps of the friends and loved ones - These were filled with sweets or flowers.

Little sweets for your friends, and special flowers for the loved ones. I don't hear about them anymore. But - I have sent all of you cute friends a special flower filled May basket (((***)))

I also remember the maypoll dance, I haven't seen this done for about 40 years now but still see in my memory the beautifull patterns made down the poll and also the the mess somtimes it made when we weave anywhere anyhow. Memories! *4u

We did the same thing as children little baskets that we filled with flowers(most of them wild) hung them on doorknobs or sat them on porch steps knocked & then ran & hid so we could see them when they found them. They just don't do things like that anymore do they *4U

Dionna, what a lovely thing to do. My first school (5yrs to 11yrs) used to dance around the Maypole as a tradition. Our Parents, anybody & everybody came along to watch and we all loved it. Ribbons in our hair and swirling skirts . . . . . . memories, they're wonderful!

What lovely tradition you have. I like this month very much. I am Catholic and May is the Virgin Mary month, and in my school we wrote songs for her and make a festival to celebrate her month, many flowers everywhere. I remember all of that with love and nostalgia. Flower and XoXo
