I was really looking forward to stitching this huge design (built into my new machine.) It was looking great until I realised that the eyes didn't match giving the poor beast a very strange expression. The left eye had no white showing at all and the right had a lot. I've rather clumsily added a few stitches by hand (very difficult to get a needle through) and it looks better, but not as nice as I expected. I hope my dog isn't frightened of it!
PS I've tweaked it with a marker pen - the original is bottom right for comparison.

Beautiful and the problem with the eye is not noticeable to me. But I've also been disappointed in the past in that I misread the color and sat with a rather purple nosed santa (the design took almost 2 hours to stitch out)

The white was the first colour to stitch out - the brown irises were next to last. The one for the left eye just seemed to be too big and covered all of the white.

Beautiful dog, and yes (sorry) I also find his eyes a bit strange, a bit cross-eyed. Maybe you could ad a black pupil in the iris. You could try at first to stick on little spieces of black paper, to see if it would help to change the eyes. If it does, you could draw on the pupils.

Beautiful dog, what a shame the eyes don't match. His right one gives him a startled expression. Don't know what you could do about that as you can't alter a built-in design.

Wow, this design looks like it took a long time to stitch out too. I wonder if you can do a bit more hand stitching to put more white in the eyes, maybe you dont have to go through all of the layers. Other than the silly expression as you call it, the pillow looks fabulous. I think I have made that same expression many times, he he

He is a lovely dog and to me he looks a little like a startled crosseyed dong a shame...is it your dogs pillow if so by the time it has been sat on it will rumple a little and i dont think ou will notice it i know how dissapointed you must be.............soozie

Sue, this is a lovely design, and it seems to have sewn out well. But, yes, the eyes are all wrong. I'm not sure who digitized it, but they weren't looking at a dog! Dogs have no white to their eyes showing, unless they are very frightened and their eyes are 'rolling'. I don't know what you could do, but if it were my design, I think I'd take a fabric pen and make the eye a very dark brown, with no white showing at all. This little doggie looks like he is frightened of his own little ball! Other than that, the design is beautiful. What kind of machine do you have? Hugs, Marji

I was thinking of doing just that! I have a Janome MC11000SE (and a three legged border collie!)
Marji that was my first thought: Dogs have no white eye-ball (in regular cases). I have always a black permament marker from Prym here to correct black outlines :o)

Goggled dog images and once you fix it's eye it will look wonderful. I took your image and airbrushed the whole eye brown and put in a black iris and it looked good that way. The stitching is realistic looking. Your machine must be a dream to have. What size is the dog design?

The design fills the 8 inch hoop and the stitching does look like fur. I looked into my own dogs eyes and used a black marker to make it look as near as possible the same. Her pupils are enormous with just a rim of brown iris.
You made it work. The eyes are nice now.

He looks scared stiff! He is in shock, poor doggy. Other than his eyes ,the coloring and design stitched well. Does he look like that on your pic in your book?

I think this dog looks great minus the eyes but I agree with 'capoodle' - a brown fabric pen can do wonders with this design.....and NO white in the eyes.....

I think I'd buy one of those pens that will paint on fabric and fill in his eyes. This dog reminds me of a Sheltie (but the white of the eyes don't usually show). Good luck with it. Great design other than the eyes. Love Chris

I think I would leave the eyes just that way and embroidery something funny under it. Like, "You want me to do what?" Humor is the best thing when things go wrong.

That is a really good idea - but I've already tweaked the eyes with a black marker. I've covered the white and made pupils. It looks much better!

I think sometimes our machines have minds of their own. Last night I was doing some designs for bags for a weekend gathering. I was on the last part and the embroidery foot caught and folded the fabric in half somehow, creating a whole section without thread down the middle of the bird. I got out my handy dandy felt tipped permanent markers and fixed it. Now you cannot even tell that it is marker and not thread without looking really close. Your dog looks a tad surprised. I strongly suspect you will be your own worst critic and no one else will even notice unless you point it out.

Sue by adding felt tip to the eyes you have totally altered the design to your advantage. It is interesting to see designs stitch out that dont look like the original

I think you did a great job tweaking the design.
I would let them know what happened to the design because in the converting from one format to another perhaps some stitches got lost. Ask them to download another to you.
