So sorry, did you know it had to be fixed when you bought it, and that it didn't come with everything you needed? You should have requested your money back. It seems things are bargains often when they are not. Having a reputable dealer to purchase a machine from and provide service for it is usually the most inexpensive way to go in the long run. And it's always wiser to ask questions before you make a major purchase, rather than figure out you made a mistake the hard way. I hope you can get your problem solved, but I really would consider asking for your money back! Hugs, Marji

Hi and welcome to Cute. As you have paid in £ I presume you are UK based. Ebay is probably a place to buy from though I would not have suggested getting a machine from there as you have found to your cost BUT £70 for a service in the UK is not bad. That is what I pay.There is no sales page here and not many UK Cuties. Embroidery machines are not cheap in getting set up but they are great fun

You have 2 options for a writer and card, actually 3. There is the PE Design, PE Design Lite and Amazing Box. All will work with your machine. Since your in the UK, I'd google to see who you can buy them for. The PE Design Lite will probably be a little more costly, but it does things that neither PE Design or Amazing Box do.*4u

Sorry your machine was not working, i have one for 7 years now and never had a problem with it, I bought it at All brands , the card is not cheap I think is around 60 dollars, the writer goes around 120 but i think it comes with a card, my writer cost me around 2oo, the price has droppe. google, to see if you have any luck. I don't know anything about what you are looking for. Do you HAVE to have these things for your machine to work, or are those just extras? I'm not familiar. Good luck. There are oodles of free designs here, and lots of people who can walk you through all of the steps of launching in to your new fun hobby. I hope that you get set up and can start embroidering to your hearts content sooner rather than later!!! Best of luck!!

My machine was someone else's before it was mine, also a Brother but older than yours. It runs beautifully (it was serviced before I got it and that receipt was included in the paperwork I got). I also decided on buying a card reader/writer and at the time knew nothing about machine embroidery and options for the accessories so I went for Brother's PED Basic reader/writer which I got from ebay USA. The cost of it in Australia was going to be $700 plus another $130 for the card. From ebay USA I got it WITH the card for $109 (US$) so it pays to browse around.

Despite you having to have the machine serviced, I suspect you still got an absolute bargain (as I did - though I'd love to be able to do designs larger than 4x4). Even though its quite expensive to get set up with software and all the embroidery supplies you'll need I still want to welcome to the addictive world of machine embroidery, and wish you luck in your choice of reader/writer. :) xXx

I also got PED Basic on ebay for about $109 US and I love it but I do wish I could do larger than 4x4 I will never be able to afford larger and my machine is strictly for my enjoyment. I do not make things to sell.

I bought the SE 2700 Disney and first one messed up in months and was return to Walmart replace and than that the bobbin winder messed before the month was out so return that one back to Walmart here the third one it lasted 6mo before the tension/reading the card is out of rythm/sycn to the pattern. i did buy a "Cars" card which can ONLY work in the Disney card which was very costly. I can't find a close enough to have it repaired because longer i use it the more goes wrong. I do have the regular Brothers se-350 now that one been goo but only 4x4 can I use clipart form. I do have the PE-design box and 1 memory card and its over 6 year old ... i don't think there a sale area . good luck ... Barbie
