If looking at Viking machines you may want to check out the Ruby. It has a much better screen view and connectivity with the computer. I think it is much easier to use.

Good morning, I've only ever had Husqvarna machines and absolutely love them. I don't know about the Topaz, but anything made by Husqvarna in my opinion is worth buying. Love Chris

I have a brother with a 4x4 hoop and i am planning to make myself a christmas present and plan on buying another brother with a 5x7 hoop. I am looking into PE770, so that I don't have to change my format.
So My gift to myself might be by the end of this month.

I've got an 'old now' Husqvarna Designer II sewing/quilting/embroidery machine. It's wonderful. I love it.
It's a real workhorse - strong, reliable.
My old HVDII is a real ambassador for Husqvarna but be sure to know that you have available servicing for any machine you buy.

I haven't seen the Topaz or Ruby in action.

If you can go to the Ruby, you may be happier. It is what you can afford. I have a friend that has the Topaz 30 and an older Designer I, and she prefers her older machine. I have the SE's, and have used a Ruby at the shop.
