Cuties, we live on a Ranch and many of the kids locally like western shirts, I'm thinking of making a vest for a 4 year old and I thought of stitching out a sherif badge on the left yoke and his name on the right side. But not sure what to put on the back center yoke, Any suggestions?

I have made some western shirts and as soon as I have my account accessible, I will post them into projects.

Have a wonderful day, going to cut fabric now...

How 'bout a long horn steer skull? Or something to the Western motif? Sounds cute.

I was looking at the western file I have and found a hand gun so I may put that on it, the long horn skull sounds neat too, I'm not sure now which to do...

Thanks.

I agree wtih you Carolyn - I think a Horse is a great idea, especially for a ranch.

If not what about a Steer, long horn!

OK, you can all pounce on me in a minute for what I am about to say.

Putting a child's name in a, clearly visible, place on their clothing is an open invitation to child molesters.

It immediately gives the paedophile an opening to speak to the child in a familiar tone.

In this day and age NO-ONE should ignore the possible risks to children. It CAN happen to any child, anywhere, any time and we should all be diligent about such precautions.

WHY add to the risk?

I would consider adding a fictitious character's name, but even then it gives molesters an opening for conversation.

I believe that here in Australia, the Stranger Danger talks in schools, run by Police, may mention this very thing as high risk.
Just my two cents worth. Hugs and roses, Meganne

I'm not going to jump on you!, it is a valid point and well said. I just wish more people thought of this, rather than the 'cute factor'.
I have four pretty girls, and believe me it is a worry, even in our small town.

We also are more aware of the "stranger danger" factor in our 900 folk community. Perhaps instead of his name, putting "Future Sheriff" or "Sheriff in Training" on the other side?

Our community of 100 is very aware of strangers, the children go to a one room class room the topic would be justified in a much larger community. We live on a ranch in the bush, and the nearest metropolis in over an hour away. Thanks for the tip any who.

Ok - forgot to say that Meganne makes good points - sometimes we don't think of these things when we are doing something like this. I know I probably wouldn't have.

A bucking bronco is a great choice for the back, or a horsehead encirlced by a horseshoe.
As to the discussion about not putting the actual name of the child, how about something like "Deputy
SureShot" or "Deputy DeadEye"?

Do you by chance have any of the free Wild West designs from Designs by Sick? There is a saloon & also a cowboy with a rope that would look cute on the back & they are all for the 4 x 4 hoop. If you don't have them they are on sale right now for 50 cent for the whole pack of 10 designs. It is happy hour right now & don't know how long it will last but here is the link. http://www.designsbysick.com/details/wildwest

I sometimes use initials instead of a name. My Kate has a lot of things with a K on it. My DIL only uses shirts with names on them if they are staying home.
What about a cute horse on the back.

Maybe a horse shoe on each side of the yoke and the horse head in the middle. H&*
