It is my hobby i emb. everyday i am home unless the machine is broke and in that case i use my regular machine and creat****whatever I give 99% of my things as gifts ,bithday, or just because****I am home as my boys are longggggg gone and i now get to play:):) hugs carolyn

I use all three machines, embroidery/sewing & serger on a daily basis purely as a hobby. I make all of my own clothes, many with embroidery, I make quilts, once again with embroidery, most of which are given away. Most of the other stuff that I make is donated to an AIDS home or to the elderly. Because I am retired, sewing has become my mainstay in life. My boys are no longer living with us.

As many as I can. Kids are grown, living alone is not fun so my Emb. Machine is my company. Some days I'm on from AM till PM and my hiney gets tired from sitting so I finally added a pillow to the chair. LOl I sell at craft shows, farmers market, for friends as gifts and just for fun to give away. Not sure wha tI'll do when my supply of goods run out. I still have 2 tubs full and can't afford to buy more at least not now. I think I can make it thru Xmas then when tax return comes watch out. I love clearance sales. LOL *4U

When my Husband died nearly 8 years ago, it was my lifesaver, and now it is very important to me still. Everday my thoughts go to when we saw our first embroidery machine, and he looked at me and said "would you like one" and I couldn't believe it. I have upgraded twice since he died.

as many hours as i can when i am not at work i have a wonderful husband who often says i will do it havent you got something else to do ( in the sewing room) make all(90%) my own clothes and g/daughter is always coming to me for something my daughter is not interested in sewing in short i would be lost without my machines....soozie

I started 5 years ago when I meet my best friend in a sewing-cours; we both were pregnant (her 3rd, my 2nd) and she did sewing and embroidering as business since some years. She get me hooked with the wish for a embroiderymachine and my husband bought me a Janome MC350E for christmas 2007. In autumn 2009 I started to sell on DaWanda (kind of german Etsy) with some patches. I still sell the most on DaWanda but also have customers here in town. Started with my Knuddies (heatpads with wheat> projects) and now I'm the "Queen of the lamps" *lol*
Since Felix is in the kindergarten I have more time for my business and I'm looking for my 3rd christmas. Hoping I'm better prepared this time...

My answer is...far fewer hours than I would like. If I had my way, I would be in front of one machine or another for 8-10 hours straight. But I'm lucky if I get to turn on my machine right now. When life settles down, then I will be there all day!! My kids are pretty much grown, so they do their own thing. My machine offers my sanity. My husband has Alzheimer's and so I have to stay home and care for him, so we are relatively homebound.
When my kids were growing up, they sat on my lap and shared in the sewing experiences. Both now are avid sewers. So I guess you would say that sewing has been integrated in to our family rituals and activities.

I use mine several times a week, I have a business that goes up and down, sometimes I have lots of work and other times none I have two multi needle machines. I spend time digitizing, and maintaining my website and I work a couple of shifts a week in a nursing home. Currently I am also packing to move house. I rarely get any time for fun projects and I hardly ever sew any more.

I think I would spend more time on my machine if I didn't spend so much with my friends here, downloading and checking out embroidery designs on sale. I am by myself and still find that the day go by so fast. I am not selling anything just embroider for fun and friends.

The truth?? I'm frustrated beyond measure.
I sew only as a hobby.

Retirement to me equates to 'that time of life when you are busier than you've ever been'. I would sincerely love to be able to spend hours with my sewing machine - I'm lucky to fit in one full hour without interruption. I would love to be able to concentrate on my embroidery; I desperately want to finish DHDon's 75th Birthday quilt - he'll be 77 next month; I so very much want to stitch the embroideries for my twin bed quilts; I need to make new clothes that fit.

The days used to be a lot longer when I fitted in sewing and knitting for my five children.

When I sew these days I have the embroidery unit working on the HVDII, I serge on the Babylock and I sew on the little Huskystar - all three machines working to make use of what little time I have.

I spend anywhere from 8-15 hours a day at my sewing machine(MC6500),plus the serger, overlock & blindhemmer-hardly anytime @ the embroidery machine(MC9700).I have a home business-I do alterations to ready made & like Alice-I rarely have time for my own fun projects & regular sewing. But I do love what I do, most of the time =O) ~linda~

I wish I could spend more time on may machines and in my sewing room, but alass Iam a weekend warrior. I usually sew about 4-8 hrs on Saturdays and Sundays.

I thought when I retired (8 years) ago, that I would have more time. That just is not so. I try to use my embroidery machine a couple of times a week and as I make most of my clothes I try to fit that in as well. Not enough hours in the day. LOL. Sarah.

Since I discovered machine embroidery, I do less sewing. Of course, I have had other hold backs - like a broken arm and then health issues for the last couple yrs. Now I am doing so much better and back to sewing and learning more about mach. embroidery from cuties.
I think I probably spend way too much time on here and d/l designs. I will hopefully get caught up on all my reg. sewing that got put to the side when I broke my arm and it also takes longer now as the embroidery is awesome to watch it stitchout!
I will be doing more now.
So far, it has all been gifts and I just did up a couple towels for a friend and he insisted on paying. So who knows what comes next.???

I'm a hobbiest. I have so many hobbies. I embroider, sew, spin, weave, nalbind, crochet, plus many other non-fiber things. I do spend a lot of time on this site. I just have to visit a couple times a day.

Not nearly as many hours as I would like! I have a full time job and a DH.... I do this as a hobby but I am going to do a craft fair with my mother (she makes cards) in November. Hoping I can find the time to make enough items to have a good selection to sell. Prior to this upcoming event, I made things only as gifts, as donations, and embellishing items for myself and others. I have done lots of crafts in my life (sewing, quilting, stuffed animals, paper quilling, paper toile, hand cross-stitch, card making, needle point, rug hook) - mostly as a hobby/gifts (although one year mom & I did a craft fair with HAND counted cross stitch items).

My husband bought my embroidery machine for me when our last child moved out. I mainly make things as gifts for family and friends.I have 3 grands and one more coming in Jan. so, i love to do things for them.

I have a spare room that my hubby made into my sewing room.. I spend as many hours a day that I can.. I have 3 daughters and they all can sew, but they only do that for mending.. I had a man come over the other day to tell us about Solar power and he brought over a dozen eggs with him, they have Chickens.. I went over to my box of towels and pot holders and gave him the set that are from EL with Eggs for 2 cents.. he was amazed to say the least.. that is what I do with my finished products.. except for quilts.. those are mine..

I embroider or sew most days. It's what keeps me sane. Had to finish work and stay at home full time with my 20yo disabled son as he is now finished his "education". Have embroidered everything in the house including hubby's jocks. Lyn. xx

Embroidery started as a hobby, now I have 2 embroidery machines, overlocker and 2sewing machines and then also do digitising.
My Family,customers and friends keep me busy,
try to spend as much time as I can in my sewing room.
Have not been able to do all that much since we got our puppy Jessica. She is keeping me very busy at the moment. Wants to play and have attention all the time.
