Also.. welcome... As this is a site dedicated to embroidery ... feel free to post any where ya want...some one is bound to see it and give advice... Seeing as you are so new to the site, it takes a bit to find your way around..

Welcome to Cute. This is a wonderful group with many helpful people. As your question is embroidery related it would have been better posted under the public tab, where more people would see it. To answer your question a ballpoint needle is used for t shirts and any knitted/ stretch fabric.

I personally love the ball point needle on jersey, interlock or anything that is stretchy.
Don't be shy, check out all the tabs on here. We have just had the PRIVATE tab back on (the site has been under construction).
