Animals...tigers, deer, eagles, antique cars or trucks (or newer models), sports items, team names all are good bets. I imagine others here will have even better thoughts. Linda

Depends on what he's into, Carolyn... my son is 23 years old now, but he still loves Star Wars. Think about what his interests are... music? sports? gaming (as in video games)?

PS: Mary gave a real good suggestion of Urban Threads. The 'steam-punk' designs are really nice. But, their designs tend to err on the dark side... you may not be comfortable with most of what they have.

An idea if I'm thinking on your lines. I would go with a sports team, which does he like, they usually do not change teams often. Just a thought. Hugs, Judy

Well one of my teen nephews is in fooball and his dad is the coach. So for me it would be something to do with sports. It really depends on the teen and their likes. Its the hardest group to please. I
was already told he would not wear anything homemade. LOL

It looks like we're all on the same wave length -- it depends on what the young man is interested in. For example, my 16 y/o GS loves guitars (any type) and most things musical. But he isn't into any sports team, so I rule them out.

I agree that some of the designs at Urban Threads are pretty dark, but some are still acceptable to those of us in the more (ahem) advanced years. Do go take a look at their designs, since the two I've stitched out came out really well.

Good luck finding something that you think will 'fit' for him.

Music, and then generic stuff like stars, moon, sun, and such. Then maybe a real great font. Good luck!! I have a 19 year old son, and a 22 year old son in law. Even dog designs are very popular with my guys. Also video game characters, cars, animals of just about any kind on our case (horses, cats, wolves, etc.) or military. All popular themes here.

Carolyn, just curious what type of item it will go on. If he has a favorite saying (no fear) (its all good), flames, or dragons, they seem to be ageless. How about a zodiac sign? I bought a cd from OESD that has many modern designs with manly scrollwork, some fish, and eagle designs. This is a tough question. Good Luck

You could check out Ramon's site, Embroiders Eye. I've purchased and used the Tribal Font, and tribute to Rock n Roll for younger folks, but he also has muscle cars etc if they are more in his interests.

The site seems to be switching to a new one but most of the designs still seem to be at this older site.

If he likes NASCAR a design of 2 crossed checkered flags would be good and maybe add wording under the flags.

I think all boys like something to do with cars or motorcycles..... Maybe something in that line.
