Hi Lyn. The mane is dark Brown. Actually the photo makes it darker than it really is. I like this one better than my orange lion (Leonardo).

It is virtually the same pattern as the sock monkey with just a few small changes to give them character eg., the mane.

Chris, There is a person selling Sock Monkeys on E-Bay for $28 - $31. I would be very surprised if she ever sells any. Mine will never be that price.

Close. I looked it up. A Tigon is the offspring of a tiger and a lioness, a Liger has a lion as a father and a tigress as a mother.
This is interesting. Have never thought of the names of the offspring.

I did not come up with the idea. I am not that clever, but there are so many animals/toys you can make with a pair of socks and they are so soft.

All of your sock animals are just terrific. The children must enjoy them. I was wondering what kind of thread you hand sew them together with, is is extra strong so they don't come apart or just regular thread. Just love them, they are so original. Can understand why they all left home at the market, but I am sure they have all found great new homes. Have a good day and keep on sewing these cuties.

Michelle, I use just the everyday sewing thread but double. All the stitching is done by hand and this type of sock is very forgiving as you can't see where you have stitched. This makes it hard if you have to undo something.
