Sewing on cards ? I just saw in the Projects-part that a cutie is sewing on cards. Who has done this before ? What do I have to keep in mind if I want to give it a try ?

I made my Mom a Mother's day card with the rose and made my Dad the Happy Birthday one, they thought it must have been a lot of work!

Craft stores (Joanns, Michaels, etc) carry cardstock in their scrapbooking section.
Card stock is no different to any other card! (I think it is a marketing ploy to mystify us) As withh all paper products, card comes in different qualities. I usually buy a pack of slightly textured prefolded cards. They come in ivory or assorted colours and are very cheap! (They even have matching envelopes.)

Dead easy.
You need a simple design - not too dense (Redwork is ideal)
Hoop some tear away stabiliser, temporarily glue the card to the stabiliser and you are away!
The design below is by Mops and you can find it in DBC. (I coloured it with watercolour pencils.
You will need an extra piece of card to cover the back of the design.

Ordinary card is fine, handmade paper is great (Stick the design to a card.) Doilies make nice special cards.
thanks for the explaination. But -sorry for my stupid question- but you don't use a hoop then ? else the card gets crimpled ?
Hoop only the stabilizer. Lightly spray with adhesive then lay the cardstock on top then stitch. Hope that helps

It is well worth trying and very easy. Follow what Sue says and you will be delighted with the results. I made this birthday card for a friend some time ago. Sarah.

I forgot to add, even the writing is done on the machine.
Very cute indeed, from now on i am NOT going to stitch them by hand, I am going to do it the fast way :)
The words are in DBC as well!

The card on the left is stitched on hand made paper which is then glued to a card. The one on the right is stitched straight onto a card with a second pice glued on to hide the back of the stitching.

I have also done it with a FSL on front with sticky two sided tape used in scrapbooking. I have hand written message inside or type it in or use a stamp.

I see that you question has already been answered. Its as easy as falling off a log ...lol. Don't fall though just get to the store and buy yourself a ream of card stock and get busy. You're going to have a great time doing this project.

BTW....Walmart carries card stock. You'll find it in around copy paper and inks.
