Been there, done that Shirlene, we were bored within 5 minutes, lol! No TV or radio or lights, ugh!

I have to resort to a book by candle light, but my poor husband has no idea what to do without power. Fortunately we don't loose power often where we are, I think it is because it is underground power here.

I'm like Alice - I am fine without electricity and got lots of things done but my DH was lost. We ended up putting in a DVD in the laptop for him to watch.

Boring, boring, boring. Even reading by candlelight is hard and flipping the switch to turn on the lights without any results gets pretty tiresome soon.

And it's so quiet without all the fridges and other things on that make a little bit of noise, that normally one doesn't even hear!

Amazing how we rely so much on our modern day technology. Here in SA we sometimes have schedule power cuts, when we are off all day. I just hate it, especially as I am not a reader - unfortunately. Sarah.

It is rather irritating, isn't it? We have had a lot of outages where I live (South Africa) because our lines are old or STOLEN. I now keep my handwork for when there us no power BUT I really miss my Cuties

This summer with all the rain/hurricanes - power seemed to off more than it was on! I have a windup radio and lanterns and oil lamps so, it isn't too bad - but every time we lose power, I'm reminded of my daughter's remark during such a outage, "but I don't want to be Amish!" hee hee Hugs and *'s, Deb

I know that feeling. During Irene it was like what do we do now? No power...no nothing it seems.

The embroidery can wait a while, but not the net. That's one reason I like my USB broadband thing from Verizon. That and my battery net book work all the time. And can even use the car jump starter and the inverter if the battery gets low.

I know exactly what you're talking about! We don't get too many power outages here; but, they do occur every once in a great while. I have been known to sit here in front of my computer monitor and look at it with a blank stare until I hear the other appliances start back up. Then I'm a happy camper again. LOL!

In Dominican Republic we have schedule power cuts, but sometimes they cut the power whenever They pleased I have an inverter, the electricity in the house runs the same way, sometimes you do not even noticed when we have power from the company or the inverter, that is my biggest problem, I am afraid using my emb. machine with the inverter someone told me the inverter current waves are different from the electric comp and it damages the machine, I sent an e-mail to Brother and they responded this way "Why not(big explanation about it) the e mail ends with the phrase, we will not be responsible if something happens to the machine" so I just do not used it when there is not regular electricity, my DH(RIP) install an electric outlet running regular elctricity only, that way I am sure I am not in the inverter. It is a mess here!!!

Yes, you are right.. some weeks back we also had a power outage..no tv, no computer (I do have a portable, but I need internet too).. very difficult to survive..expecially when you are cooking and the only thing left is backing the meat !! .. I went out to get french fries eventually...
