when I was at school, we once fixed a kitchen short and a baby cloth. But that's a long time ago. For the moment I just discovered this embroidery.. and still am trying out lots of things...

My sister sewed Barbie clothes for me and I loved them.

My mother and my Aunt Blondie sewed doll clothes for my sister and I. My aunt made beautiful evening gowns from men's silk ties. I still have most of them. I sewed doll cloths for my daughter. Maybe one day I will have a granddaughter to sew doll cloths for. For now I only have two grandsons.

I loved my dolls and played with them until early teens. My special 'friend' was Mandy and I made all her clothes. She now sits on an antique chair in a spare bedroom at my daughters. Thank you for wonderful memories. Sarah.

My parents wouldn't let me have a Barbie Doll, but I got another that was a Bride Doll when I was about 10, but I made all the clothes for her, and designed clothes for her for several years. Still have her although she is stored. My daughter had Barbies as well as my gd and I have made clothes for them. I even knitted a sweater for Barbie with leftover yarn from my DD knitted sweater. My Bride doll was larger and easier to sew for and I still like her size even to this day.....not so tiny...

My GodMother got me a doll way back when they first came out with a bosom (NOT a Barbie). She made several handmade/sewn clothes to go with it. I have always treasured them. They are still in my antique cedar chest!!!!!!!!!!

I finally saved my money and bought a Barbie doll (Parents wouldn't buy me a Barbie because they had a bosom and were SINFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!) Over the last 50 some years (I am retired:):):) I have purchased countless Barbies and sewn and knitted countless clothes for them and given countless away.

Yes, I did all the barbies doll clothes. I also did crissy doll and cabbage patch dolls. Now I'm into american dolls. One family could not believe I would make their daughter all those crissy doll clothes. Love to do them, but love embroidery much more.

I raised three daughters so I have made everything from clothes for baby dolls to Barbies and American Girl dolls. Then when they outgrew dolls I began a hobby of my own creating porcelain dolls. And I made their clothes. Unfortunately a devastating flood destroyed my dolls and financial limitations have prevented me from resuming that hobby. So now my new hobby is embroidery.

My mom made my doll clothes and many of my clothes.
I made over last couple of years tons of barbie clothes for my nieces from ITH designs and they are
awesome and easy to do.

My mom and a family friend made Barbie clothes for me. I did too when I was older. I still have ALL my barbie dolls and outfits in the case.

I learned to sew by making dolls clothes from the scraps left after my mother made clothes for me. When I was about 10, I dressed a lot of dolls in period costume (Queen Elizabeth 1st ect) and had them in a glass fronted cabinet. Haven't a clue what happened to them! In more recent years I have made and dressed porcelain dolls (including a 12th scale one for my dolls house) and loads of rag dolls.

My mom and aunt would outfit Barbie with sewn, knitted and crocheted outfits. They were lovingly made and my favorites! Also had a baby doll my mother had made an entire layette for. As I got older, I learned to sew by stitching Barbie clothes on "cheater panels" - the outfits were printed on the fabric and you'd cut them out and sew them together. My niece has them all now and all the American Girl outfits I had sewn for my daughter to play with.

I asked for a piece of fabric as a birthday present when I was 8 (I'm now 63) and sewed a dress for my muggin doll on my mums treadle machine. I already knitted clothes for my Pedigree baby dolls and when I was 11 I saw a 'teenage doll' with 'stockings' a bosom and high heels and told Mum. I got it for Christmas. Larger and nicer than Barbie (in my opinion) I made all sorts of outfits. I've just retired from working in a dolls house shop with a dolls hospital, mending and dressing dolls. I still make outfits in my fantastic workroom and sell them on my web-site justjanetsco.co.uk so I have been dressing dolls since I learned to knit at 3 years old.

Never had a doll myself until I bought one at the age of 12 and started making clothes for her. Gave her away a few years later to the daughter of a cousin of mine and even to this day I am "aunt T. of the doll" Made tons of clothes for my daughters' dolls and their daughters still play with those and with the new (and less dated) ones I've made the last few years, quite often matching the clothes I made for my GDs.

I never had a "Barbie". We (my sister and I) used to get the knock-off dolls, but that is where I got my start with sewing.

My fondest Christmas memory was getting a Barbie Doll set with clothes that had tiny zippers and little pearl buttons (+ buttonholes) on her sweater. I was in awe of the details. The next Christmas, my brothers got me Barbie doll clothes patterns, I think my mom had a lot to do with their choice. I began sewing her clothes by hand and I've been sewing ever since. I loved making doll clothes for my daughter to match her clothes.
