I'm in need of a little advice. My iron died recently so I trotted up to the handy Walmart to get a new one, I bought a 'sharp' in the average price range. What a dud! It will only steam once in a while, not continuous. Does anybody know of a nice iron that produces lots of steam? Don't really know where to look..........:(

Good luck! I have yet to find a nice iron that is afforable these days. They just don't make things the way they used too. I have a spritz bottle of water next to my iron and use that when I need to. I've given up on finding a good iron I can afford.

I'm with sewfrenzie on this one. Unless you pay an arm and a leg for one they don't work at all. If I spend over $100 on something it surely won't be an iron. Spritz bottle ares cheap and even the cheapest of irons heat up.

After I bought my first Rowenta, I was in love!!! I have had several. I don't buy the most expensive model. I do like the stainless steel bottom one. My sweetie was pressing something at my house once and he fell in love with it too. He bought one for himself and both of his children. I did notice that they are made in China now, like every thing else. Kay

If you have a Home Depot near you, go have a look at theirs. I bought one a couple of years ago for about $15. and it has been the best iron I have had in quite some time. and i have had Rowenta and Bernina. I can't tell you the brand as I am not at home but it was not one of the usual iron brands.

I always buy the cheapest but with a good seperate water tank, so I get heaps of steam. Love those irons. Used to buy the expensive ones, but find the cheap ones just as good.Hope you can bring the other back if you complain. Good luck

I buy my Rowenta's at Sears. You can also get them online, but buy the one still made in Germany, NOT the one from China - they leak. Or at least the 3 I've sent back did.

I had to do it 2x to get the correct IP address, just don't duplicate the DW8 at the end of the first one.

I bought a Black & Decker about 10 years ago. It has an automatic shut off and lots of steam. I could swear it gets better with age. I love it!

I have a newer Black and Decker. It is horrible. I wouldn't recommend mine to anyone. Enjoy your old one while it lasts!!
10 years ago black and decker had good prducts, as of late though their products leave a lot to be desired. So sad to see the quality of products change so much!

A few years ago I bought a Philips Azur Excel Plus, with the Anodilium plate. I'm still in love with this iron and it still looks new! It has been made in Singapore.

I have a Rowenta in my craft room and another one in my walk-in closet(alot of room). Just me but I would not use anything else! I wish I could afford a new Rowenta Steam buggy but that is no longer in my budget since I had to retire because of my health! The first one I had was not a Rowenta and it worked wonderful...when it worked! I sent it back to the factory to have it fixed with the warrenty but it did not last another 6 months. I am sure that if it had been a Rowenta that I would have forced them to replace it! The steam buggy was one I got from HSN yrs ago. There is no substitute for good quality products! Maybe one day I will be able to afford another steam generator made by Rowenta!

First of all I would take that one back. I had to buy a new iron last week. I have tried many makes in the past but the only make I buy now is Phillips. Good luck in your quest for a new iron. Sarah.

Just got a TEENY one at Target for $9.99, fits your palm of the hand, this will be for quilting class.. Used it at quilt class. Works as good as my big ROWENTA, which is my regular iron.

I saw that several ladies in my quilting class have this one:
Reliable V50 ORANGE Digital Velocity Steam Home Iron
They all swear by it. But it's about $100.00.
The teeny iron I just bought at Target has steam capability and was only $9.99 and is even used by Nancy (has quilting show on tv)just can't recall her last name..

I got an off brand iron at Walgreens for $9.99 & it's great! They are on sale a lot, so check the Sun. ads. I think I had to send in a rebate form, but it came out to about 9.99. At that price, I figured if it died, I could get another. But it's still going & I like how it works.
