Hi guys, well it was a long day. Meg has just left. We've been sitting on the computer since about 4.45pm and it's now 5.30pm.

Gary Walker from Echidna was great and is always a wealth of knowledge.

Urban Zundt talked all about his company's history and the designs that are created there in St. Gallen.

Tracey Sims spoke about colour and how to use it - very informative.

And Lisa Shaw spoke all about Buzz Tools.

I've added a couple of pictures of some of the ladies there. Would you believe Meg sat next to the only other CUTIE amongst the 100 women who were present. And she doesn't live that far away from her. Another lady who was at our table was also from down the Central Coast, so it was worthwhile just going to catch up with some other ladies.

Had a great day - food was wonderful and the service 1st class. Love and blessings Chris

I am so thrilled for you - what a great day - also to met another CUTE family member, there! WOW! I hope that you received a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed the socialization with others. Thanks for the picture and glad you had a great day.

Yes I can second that. The day we attended was called Decorate Your Life with Embroidery, it was organised by Echidna and held at Newcastle.
It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it was still interesting, though I think I enjoyed the interaction with the other ladies more than the presentations.

Seeing the history of embroidery in Switzerland was interesting, but I think I was expecting to learn tips and tricks on how to digitise better designs.

Tracey's talk on colour was very informative, but I think it may have only confused many of the ladies more, especially those who hadn't come from an artistic background or studied art. The projects were mostly of autumnal colours and (to me) got a bit boring after a while as it became more of a promotion of Zundt designs.

Tracey did have a fantastic colour tool, that is a "must have" for anyone who is colour challenged.
Though I am not colour challenged, I bought one anyway, because I love information and anything that makes the stitching process quicker and easier is worth having. It is far superior to just having a colour wheel and inexpensive compared to the price of some colour wheels.

Lisa's talk was all about Buzz Edit, Buzz Explore and Buzz Tools and if those three modules do all the things she showed us, as easily as she made it out to be, then it would be worth having just for the design splitting function. But I'm sceptical, I fell for a sales pitch once before, on another program, only to be VERY disappointed once I installed and opened it. Have never used it since.

Gary Walker, the owner of Echidna, promoted all of the above and gave a brief presentation of several products Echidna sells, one of which was a Bobbin Tension Measuring device. Naturally I bought one because my Brother 750D has given me nothing but trouble because of the bobbin tension. I actually gave up using the machine because of it.

All in all we did have a lovely day, made some new friends and drooled over some gorgeous projects and designs that were way beyond my Coca-Cola pocket.

What did amaze me with the Zundt designs is, that most of them had very little, or no, underlay, so that the fabric showed through them. hmmmmm?

Hopefully though, we will see some new members joining us here at Cute.

Hugs and love and thanks Chris for posting the pics, Meganne

Hi Meganne - Thanks for this account of your day out, too. It's true - convention presentations can sometimes miss the mark with what we are expecting, but all the information is good to have. How about you sitting next another Cutie!!! Now that's where I begin to feel a twinge of envy... :}

I'm so glad you had a good time.
