Graycie's Journey..Had to hire a Vet Tech to come to the house to help me feed & do sub q fluids on her and what a difference it has made. She would have had to go back to the hospital and had a feeding tube, I am not the bad guy now & can just love her!

I have dealt with cats all my life and I just couldn't get the hang of the syringe feeding, then the vet tech on her 1st visit yesterday said she was taken off sub q's much too early,as she was already dehydrated, that's why she wasn't taking food from me..

Oh, It's okay to ask for help. Can she come everyday? Keep on hangin' on, Vicki. It's slow but worth every minute. I am so happy you are the one getting to love her, and for her purrs. She's not really out of the woods yet, is she. More and MOre prayers.... hugs, jan

I am so pleased that Graycie is doing so much better. Glad she doesnt need a feeding tube, that is just awful for humans so I imagine it's ghastly for animals.

Glad that you have somebody to help you with Graycie (did he/she take care for her when seh was at the vet?). I had a cat with diabetes and had to inject him insulin every day (in combination with beta-blockers ;o).
Our last cat had failure of the kidneys and we had to give her infusions to feed her and prevent dehydration. She was such a brave cat and looked like your Sammi...

Actually it is a gal who used to work with Graycie's doctor who has struck out on her own. Graycie's doc has nothing but high regard for her and is thrilled to know she is helping me.
I was doing cat-sitting when people are in holidays cause it is difficult to find somebody who could care for a cat with diabetes and the need of insulin-injections. With my allergy now couldn't do it anylonger :o(

Vicki - I'm so happy for you that Graycie is doing better! You must have been worried sick about her. I too have found that caring for our beloved critters at home is so much less stressful for them, even though you had to bring in a Vet Tech to help. Just keep on loving her, and hopefully she'll recover quickly. I'm thinking about you both.

We've taken them in to our homes and promised to take care of them, so we have to do everything we can to help them out! I wish both you and her the best. I hope that she comes along and recovers nicely. Getting out of the dehydration phase will really help. Once she starts eating and putting on a little bit of weight, then she should be in the clear. I'm glad you are able to offer her the extras that she needs!!
