I like to leave my ornaments in water only till you can see the interfacing anymore so it is stiff. On my lace wedding gloves I keep changing the water till it is not so stiff and change water often. So to answer you question it depends on how stiff you want it. I am fairly new with using it so and just guessing.

I have only made ornaments but I just rinse them under running hot water. then place flat on non linting cloth place another cloth on top and press with an iron to remove most of the moisture. then lay flat over night to finish drying and stiffen up more.
Not sure if I do it right but it works for me LOL

You've already gotten the best answers you can get, but its a good idea to think about what the fsl is going to be for. The longer you soak it, the softer it will be. Take a couple of test pieces of your wss and put them, one at a time, under running water, to see how fast it dissolves... cold water then hot water. I bought some wss once that did not dissolve in hot water... what a mess that ended up being!

I hold it in my hand and run hot water then lay on a cookie sheet to dry, after dry I put a lint free rag or hankerchief under and over it and steam press to flatten and straighten. I always use the cloth because I ran my iron over a red ornament once and had red on the bottom of my iron! Have fun Sarah, I LOVE FSL!!!

mostly it depends on the instructions that came with the WSS - I have some that needs hot water, some warm, and some cold {gah!!!}

I run mine under warm to hot water - until I can't feel any of the WSS in it - if you want a stiff lace - then you don't rinse completly - I then will dry mine FSL with a hair dryer - laying it flat on a surface until it is nearly or completely dry.
