I have a bunch of heavy towels to embroider - any suggestion on which needle to use? I appreciate any insight to this question! Hugs, Laura

I have just done some embossed letters on towels and use 80/12 needles.
also I use just wash away on the top and no stabiliser underneath. some might not agree but for me it works fine every time.

Thanks - I have done many of a towel - but these are really thick and I really questioned what needle to use on thick ones. Hugs, Laura

I don't know that much; but I do know it is important to put a wash away on top of the towel. Else the design does not sew nice.

If your towel is really thick I would use a 90 size needle and would suggest you not hoop your material as it will force your hoop and loosen it. Just hoop your WSS and a little glue to hold it into place with your baste stitch on the outline,

Not about the needle, but may I add to be sure to clean your machine often. I find that seems to make a lot ofdifference in the stitching on mine.

Hi there, I use a denim needle no 14 and if the towels are really very thick, I sometimes use a quilting neede, because it is a little bit linger than the others. Hope you do well on your towel project. ***

I think a new needle is most important vs. size, if you can hoop it. I would go to a 90/14 if it is so thick I can't hoop it.
