This isn't a embroidery question, but I need your help. It is about crochet. I want to crochet a purse by Naoka Shimoda. The pattern book ISBN# is 978-4-579-11113-8. It is written in Japanese, but I have been told it is easy to follow the pictures. Does anyone have any experience with this book. It has to be ordered from Japan, and I'm just not sure if it is worth my time if I can't read the book.

Depending on whether or not you are close to a large city, you might be able to order this book from your library. The larger libraries are more likely to carry it. I'm not trying to discourage you from buying it, but perhaps you can get a look at it firsthand before purchase so that you will know whether or not you want it. I did a search of your book, and saw at least one purse in the book and it looks really nice!!!

Japanese patterns are usually graphed rather than written instructions. I have made a few things from Japanese pattern books, they do take a little more time to read and understand but are so worth it.Take time to read the pattern,I photocopy the pattern I am working on so I can make notes. Enjoy your book, let me know how you go with the patterns.

Is the purse the one at the link below. One person mentions that it is easy to follow the graphics.

I can't help - but wish you luck in your decision and I will send this to the top - so hopefully another will see it - that might help.

The Japanese sewing patterns I have give such excellent illustrations you dont need to be able to read. Yoriko/Manami is Japanese so you could ask her for help if all your attempts fail

I found it on facebook- same link as below and was
going to paste it but already done. Its so cute. If its this one sounds like she altered the pattern a bit.
