Is everyone as tired and happy, as I, that we can relax this afternoon? haha I had my kids and grandkids(2 gk girlfriends), my sister and her husband,1 of my hubands brother for a total of 20 for Christmas lunch and dinner. My table sits 10, but we managed. I think the last 8 left at midnight.Needless to say, everyone seemed to enjoy theirselves, including us.I slept in this morning and then got up and cleaned my floors. All the women helped clean up the kitchen/food away b/4 the games, last night. We play Spades. WE had 2 groups, 4 in each group,it was fun. My sister and I were partners in one group and we won twice. She lives 2 states away and we enjoy the time together, when she comes. It has been quite today, Cameron LOVED his "clubhouse", he doesn't know what a teepee is (look in projects),haha Oh, the times they are a changing. Best wishes to all for a New Year-Toogie

I hit the after-Christmas sales at 5:30am, with my sister-in-law, and shopped for 9 hours. I got a lot of great deals too. Now I am sitting here with my tired, aching feet propped up.

Charla - who spent a lot of money & had a lot of fun doing it!

Good for you! When I re-charge myself, I may shop. Right now, I am happy just to stay in my robe.

Thank you - Also had family over for Christmas - bad part was that when we returned from church I started the last preparations only to realise that the geyser had burst. Only way out was to turn the water supply to the geyser off. My kettle was working overtime. Luckily all is fixed now.

What are you doing with a geyser?
I thought you only found them in National Parks or New Zealand????? Please explain what it is, some sort of hot water system??
by babie 27 Dec 2011
Hi Meganne - yes we call the hot water system a geyser (it is actually the tank in which the water is heated). Interesting that for some it might be strange terminology.

Wished I could sit back and relax (embroider) But I have my mother in law staying and as she is not very well and can not cope with many people at once I had to spread my visitors over a week. Up till Friday I have somebody for dinner every day.So no sewing for me!

Poor you! In a way it is good to have intimate gatherings, but you never get finished cooking, having to spread it out like that.Hope you have re-cooped by now-T

We're having our Christmas day this coming Saturday.
My youngest Son is a minister so his Christmas day is spent with his congregation and the children's crèche (hmmm? must ask him why the crèche)
Anyway it is always great no matter which day it happens.

We did do that, enjoy ourselves. I cooked for 3 days but when they came ,all the girls helped clean up. Spades is played with 4 people. You deal out all the deck 52 cards. You have 13 tricks. you play partners. Each person bids his hand on how many tricks he thinks he can get.Spades is always trumps. Each trick is worth 10 points. if you think you can win 3 tricks and your partner thinks she can win, say 4, then your bid would be 7. the other team may bid 4 altogether. That is a total of 11 with 2 anyone may get. If say, you got 8 tricks, your score would be 71, because you didn't bid the extra trick you only got 1 point for it.the other team would have made 41.However if you only got 6 tricks, then you go back 70 points b/c you did not make your bid.The game is usually 250 points or 500. which we state before we start. It has more rules and if you are really interested private message me and I will send them to you.Really a fun game though-Toogie
