Michael's Christmas Request

Besides a Christmas dinner that consisted of a turkey as the main event, my son's other Christmas request was that I make him another dream catcher. The very first one I made was for him... he still has it, but some of its symbolism is no longer relevant. As part of fulfilling that request, I sat him down here at my computer and had him chose what designs he wanted me to use for it... and then, he got to pick his colors of thread.

Over the last couple of years, I estimate that I've made at least 20 free standing lace dream catchers. Some of them even made it to Embroidery Library's Stitcher's Showcase... which is where I purchased the dream catcher fsl designs from. I experimented with all different kinds of fsl designs as fetishes... angels, 3D angels (from Stitch Delight), hearts, butterflys, seahorses, and so forth. While the preceding wasn't exactly traditional dream catcher fodder, every one I made brought a smile from the recipient's of them.

And so, not only did I get a big smile from my son, I got a bear hug and kiss on the cheek from him, too.

I usually include real feathers on the dream catchers I make, but Michael didn't want them on his.
