Pics of my fabric stash (one of them, have three). Decided to start the new year by taking inventory, organizing and planning. Have realized that I SHOULD NOT BUY another piece of fabric for a long time. Will definetly have to stay away from the stores because I just cannot resist nice fabric. Did good and did not even check out connecting threads fabric sale last week. I could always have my own sale and then buy more, I will do my best but how long will I be a good girl, LOL.

Hugs
Michelle

How nice organized! But you do have lots of fabric, if you say you have 3 stadhes of this. But I guess you never can have enough.

This does not include any flannels or any of the polar fleece. Come to think of it I have other fabrics (that I use for making St, Nicolas) stored in big tubs elsewhere, I guess that makes 4 LOL

Oh my, Michelle, now I want to see all your greens and blues, and the rest! How do you organize all your stabilizers? I think January should be Organization Month! What do you do with the little stuff? Love it! Jan

January should definetly be Organization Month, how can we know where we are going if we do not know what we have,my stablizers rolls are all lined up and am waiting on hubby to add shelves in cupboard for the bigger rolls, the little stuff has drawers dedicated to each type of whatever,

Thanks, have to be organized otherwise I go crazy, I try twice a year to go through and put everything in the proper place, get rid of what I will not use, (give those to church organization and they make things to raise money, etc). Organization is the key

Oh but what do you do when well meaning friends call you over & say" I want you to have all this fabric. I can't quilt anymore or sew" I have had 2 neighbors do this just this past month & I do not know how to say no. wish mine was as organized as yours but right now all they gave me is still in boxes./Lillian

I go through them and give away (to the church or women craft groups) what I will not use. I am sure if you kindly asks your friends if it is o.k. with them that you did something like this, they would agree.

And I thought my stash was big - I think you have a little more! Love it. Makes me feel better seeing someone else with a bigger stash than I have (last time I had a big stash worked out really good as my first hubby passed away and I couldn't afford to buy any and used a lot of my stash - 12 quillows for xmas one year - and didn't buy much of any fabric for 12 years - also, wasn't doing ME at that time).
Nicely organized.

Oh how I would love to be as neat as you! My fabric stashes tend to be a bit more bulky as I use a lot of polar fleece (for dog jackets). Also have a collection of webbing, snaphooks, D rings etc for dog leads, collars etc. A lot of it is in plastic tubs but I do tend to overflow them as well and take up a spare couch. One day I might see that couch again -but then I'll have to keep the foster dog off it, so it might be easier this way, LOL.

I find when it is neat you don't loose time searching for things, I NEED to be neat,
I keep little things in plastic containers and by color, that also makes it easier,

Suits my purpose of course it could always be bigger LOL

Start with a purge because as I found yesterday times change and you no longer need certain fabrics. Start with one older ones first,

Have to admit that I have also some cupboards and shelves full of fabric :o)
Had to think on you and your stash when I was looking at the new designs at emblibrary *lol*
In the meantime I just buy what I need for my Lamps (>business) and better buy designs: Need not so much place and I can use them so often as I like. Some of my fabrics are so nice that I never wanna cut them...
Greetings, Bettina

Part of the reason I buy it when it is available is because we are losing most of our fabric stores, luckily we still have club tissue and fabricville, I have even started buying on line,

Nice stash. How do you buy your fabric? I do alot of applique so I've been buying 1/2 pieces when I see something I like. I also have many 1 + yard pieces. I try to have every color on hand. I never know when I get a request for something. Love the stash....
