Do you gals glue the little felt designs on the hair clips, or do you sew them on? I have the file that makes the blank cover for the clip & several things to go on that, but I have a really hard time doing hand work due to arthritis. However, with the clip opening & closing over & over does the glue start to let go?? Tks!

Well I don't know about anyone else but I hot glue them on, and as far as do they come off I can't answer that. My grands either lose them due to thin hair or they just don't tell me.

That's sadly funny to me. At least you don't have to worry about them coming off!

ok here we go on how to do it. at the back of the slide cover about half inch down make a small cut across the back, this is where the actual slide wil enter and be hidden.
open the slide, get your hot glue gun ready to use and then squeeze the sides of the fabric so that it makes it easy to push the slide front section between the fabric through the slot you have cut.
place the meteal section in through the slot and position it correctly, again squeeze the sides of the fabric to open up the slot a litte and insert the hot glue gun nozzel and squeeze a small amount of glue into the opening and press down to squash the glue and spread it across the metal bar and fabric so securing the sections together,
when you want to attach the pretty bit then a small dab of hot glue on the slide front is all you need and then pop the pretty design into position on top. I would suggest also makeing a seperate matching design and then gluing it onto a strip of ribbon, make a loop for hanging on the top back of the design then the hair slides can be clipped onto when not in use and hung up neat and tidy instead of being dropped into a draw,
I hope this will guide you and that you will have so much fun creating original slides for your special girls. look for small applique designs too or minnie designs that are used on socks. but please never ever put the name or initial of the child on the slide.
for obviouse reasons the name, but even the initial can open up a conversation with a young one.

I agree with you. Stitch names on stuff for kids is always a mixed blessing: Looks so cute and it's so individual but also dangerous...

I so agree about the names! I refuse to make anything with a name except pillow cases, bath towels or PJ's! But had never thought about the initial thing! So sad we have to do all this in our world today.
And tks for the info. I had made several, but hand sewing instead of glueing & I just can't do it anymore!

this site has some nice freebies that would work well on the sides fringed flowers and some fringed earrings that could be attatched by beads and allowed to hang down from the slide look for some fsl freebie feathers and use those too. lots of ideas just waiting to be let loose on the world I so sometimes wish my creative brain would turn of for a few hours. annie in the UK
