I would say hot glue gun, you can use this for just about anything and will be more useful than the tacky glue and stronger, this is my opinion,

this is really a matter of choice so what are pros and cons.
Tacky glue is safe to use and not hot, it allowes time for you to think about it and no silver strings.
But. somtimes it does not glue fast enough and it also seeps into the fabric and shows over time as a discolouration.
Hot glue gun is not safe for young children to useas th glue does get very hot and can stick on fingers and make you say OUCH, it can leave silver strings of glue but these can eaily be removed. its fast and it grabs and holds and no seepage. but once its cooled itt is very difficult to seperate the fabric it is holding together.
for those hair slides i much prefer the hot glue gun for quickness and securing. hope this helps you .

I would say glue gun. They say the glue gun is the woman's answer to the man's duct tape (that super sticky silver stuff - my DH calls it "100 mile per hour tape"). It is very useful for many tasks.

I do love my glue gun but tacky glue works too.

There is a glue made by Alene called Jewel It and it works great on things that you want to hold fast..it does not wash out, so great on t-shirts, etc...

Oh my, I just made some of these this summer. I don't recall the name of the product but it was actually for felt. On the first barrett I did I thought the glue wouldn't hold so I sewed the little flower on. Then I just let the glue dry on the rest and the glue was great. Held perfectly. I purchased it at Hobby Lobby. Sorry I can't remember the name and the glue is in another state right now. :-)

I use a fabric glue called Liquid Stitch. I like it because nothing comes apart with this stuff and saves the fingers from those hot glue burns. Also love Aleene's tacky glue in the gold bottle,couldn't live without it.

Read an article that stated that the hot glue gun is good for a quick hold and to back it up with regular glue that takes longer to set. They have many glue sticks out now since I read that. Since it's felt I would stick to a flexible fabric type glue that can get wet.

I found a product called speed sew, its for quick hemming. This stuff is tough, won't wash out. I found it at grocery store in the area where theres different sewing products, some stores have wool and other notions. Or it might be found at any sewing store. You don't need very much of it either, just a little dab. My tube has lasted me a very long time. Hope this helps. :)

glue gun

there is a small glue gun for about $5.00 in most hobby stores. just got finished making some and definitely use the glue gun. I find I have more control with the smaller version. I have both, but use the smaller one for clippies. Betty
