Question: If doing a 3d project say Stitch

Delight 3d applique doll bed and you want it extra firm so to speak so its not wonky.
Three options I can think of
1. Use 2 layers of stiffy or peltex firm
2. Cut out a crosstitch template smaller than design and spray glue in place before
final applique step
3. Suggestions?
What do you recommend?

I've put stiff card in place before the final applique step. It depends if the item is going to get rough treatment! Plastic canvas or similar might be an alternative,
