Do something for someone else. There is always someone worse of than you are. Stop and count your blessings.

Knew I could count on you for a suggestion !!! THANKS BEV !

There's a song on the Country Music Channel at present by Leann Rimes in just this vein. It's good, I like it. It's mostly about 'street kids' becoming volunteers and feeling better about themselves.

I try to stop and thank God for what He is giving me - for me to learn from - generally after I have done that - I can get on with the day and realize - that things could be so much worse than I thought they were.

Jan, thanks for asking - I was having a moment - when I saw this and had to stop to think - what I would tell you and did it myself and I feel so much better.

On the long run it will get better, Can't go for a walk, because having back problems. Can't phone a friend. Best is to talk to God about it and get busy doing something that make the bad day BETTER. Hugs Marie

If I am tired I have bad days so put on a DVD, grab a blanky and go to sleep.I have slept thru some of the best movies.I usually wake up feeling better.I suffer with depression and fibromyalgia so it doesn't pay to get too tired.

It's easy to have the odd 'flat' day after the pomp and ceremony of Christmas and getting together with family for those who do. Everything can then seem a bit quiet especially if neighbours are away on holiday. Maybe a warm bath with a nice soda for some, a coffee with or without company, maybe offer a friend some help in their garden if you're up to it, or make something sewn just for you?

I grab a large Dammit doll and knock ten kinds of s**t out of it while yelling at it.
i feel so much better for venting my frustration and everyone else is safe.
strangly enough the three dogs and hubby are so good for the rest of the day,
I say sit and all four do it right away.
works wonders. annie in the UK

love it. I have to make myself a dammit doll. wonder if it works on the kids too. thanks for the laugh. xx
by eggyannie 10 Jan 2012
its also called the naughty chair technique when training dogs,
you use a rolled up length of newspaper and hit the chair making loud noises. then turn to the dog and tell it its next if it missbehaves.
you will see your dog thinking about it and deciding its had better behave and realising just who is actaully top dog. works well on kids too.

and realising you are actually top dog. this works well with children too.
after all who wants to take on a raving loony who shouts and hits chairs.

Love it. Gotta make a doll.

Everyone in my office has a dammit doll, and we have lots of fun with them, but I've never heard the expression "ten kinds of s#$t!" THat's awesome! My mother-in-law says "knock the pee-waddly-doo" out of it. If the dammit doll doesn't work, then chocolate usually does.
by parkermom 11 Jan 2012
whoops, cut the message off. if the dammit doll doesn't work, then chocolate usually will.

I must be very lucky as I do not really have bad days. If I am ever feeling low, I go out in the garden and think how lucky I am with my lot and tell myself to get cracking with some thing to do.

A brisk walk, while forcing myself to think upon the things I am blessed with, rather than allowing the negatives to take over, seems to give me a much needed boost! I think the walks get my blood to flowing to help the brain to untangle, and I can begin smiling through my tears to realizing how truly fortunate I am! It helps to keep repeating "This Too Shall Pass!" It always does, and things take on a different perspective in time!
Hugs to you!

I talk to the Lord... and read some from His "Love letter" (the Bible) so He can talk to me..... and get busy with something. (clean a closet or drawer, read a novel, EMBROIDERY! of course or other craft......
Sometimes just sit quietly and meditate on all the GOOD THINGS in my life.

1. Make a list of things you are thankful for.

2. Be thankful you woke up this morning. If we didn't have bad days, we wouldn't appreciate the good ones.

When it's physical I go to bed with a book and sleep it off - spent yesterday that way having a slight fever and a very sore throat and feel much better today although I can hardly speak - which might be a blessing for my DH :)
When it's psychological I get to work on something I love doing.

I remind myself how forutnate I am to have the life I live, that its just the moment, and things will change and get better. I try to see the positive in even the negative things that happen to me. I found out a long time ago that to dwell on the negative just seems to brings more of it into my live, so I look for the positive in the situation and decide to put the rest in the "trash recycler" and move on. Sometimes its harder than others, but it has helped me move forward to a better life over the years.

Write down those negative thoughts that keep repeating in your head and if you can't today, save the list for tomorrow, but re-read them and then write beside them why they aren't true. Especially the ones that tell you he/she "makes me so mad or sad or whatever it is they "make" you. Then tell yourself- NO ONE can "Make" me feel anything- I choose how I feel. If you do it frequently enough you can eventually train yourself to stop the STINKIN' THINKIN' before it has time to make you feel bad.

Depends on the type of bad and the time of day. Sometimes a walk with my dog will take care of it. Yoga helps other times and if all else fails a little Bailey's in my coffee.

I sit down at my sewing machine and start creating something while crying my eyes out, or I take out my camera and go for a walk taking pictures along the way. Getting involved with a project helps me work out my feelings.
