Emily's Quilt...
I guess its going to be a Christmas tradition that I should make Emily a quilt as my gift to her. Last year, it was white and rose pink with stripping of a paisley print that someone gave me a piece of. Her mom informed me several months before Christmas that Emily had outgrown the quilt.
This year, I decided that Emily's quilt was going to be turquoise and white and done rag quilt style. The floral heart designs came from Stitch Delight... design set SD665. The full blocks are 9" square and the border blocks are 5" x 9".
I tried various pre-digitized alphabet lettering and just couldn't get anything to suit me. So, I scrawled her name in my own handwriting, scanned it, and then digitized it. I dotted the 'i' with a flower design that I had created from a preset shape in one of my graphics programs. And then, I added my signature glyph on the very bottom right-hand corner piece.
The deep turquoise fabric is very similar to a heavy weight linen. The white is galaxy twill; and I did the back in flannel.
There's only 2 layers... and the reason for it is that Emily gets hot under heavier blankets. For the time being, polar fleece is not planned for any Emily projects.
love.
