This was my digitising experiment for today. He is almost all made in the hoop. (I had to stitch the panel along his back in place with my sewing machine.)He is about 9cm tall and his tail is a cord twisted from the threads I used for the embroidery.

is the trim digitized or added later because it really adds alot. Is it the oriental place that has the fancy elephants. This little guy is fancy.
The embellishment was added to the basic shapes in Embird. I was just fiddling around really.
You are such a smart cookie!! :-)
I looked closer and really like them-nice job.

He is perfect!! I know you are new to Embird but, how did you learn to do in-the-hoop designs? Are they like applique? Hats off to you!! Hugs, Laura*

Mostly I've learned by stitching out other peoples designs - just to see how they are put together.

You amaze me. I want to learn to digitize, but I think that it will be too difficult for me to learn. You give me hope!!! I may try it after all.

I would love to learn to degitize too. Can you tell us how to get started?
Buy Embird, have a look at free tutorials (the Embird site has some, Clipartopolis has a number of very instructive ones and there are more to be found) and give it a go.
What Sue's been doing with the ITH things is almost exclusively using the line tool (except for the eyes) and you can see how cute these designs are. It's amazing how much you learn from just one tool and how much easier it is to then go on and try another (fill sticth and coulumn).

Those are lovely, Sue! The decorative stitch you used looks a bit like chain-stitch, nice and bold. The back and the 4 legs make him so much nicer than the 2-legged ITH animals I've seen. He'll make a nice children's toy and a decorative item. Clever!

Thanks - I was trying to get the same look as a lot of Indian embroidery which used chain stitch a lot. It was actually quite easy to get the four legs ith - it was the back panel that gave me the problem!
I'm glad you gals brought this up because
I kept thinking chain links but didn't make the connection. It really makes the elephant fancy. The colors in the thread against the background are superb.

I'd just about forgotten about this design! I'll have to find it and bring it up to scratch before I share it.
