Mine's colourblind for red and green. And he's a filatelist. Colours and their names are a hot item here. :)
Martine, mine is colorblind too! yes the red, green and brown seem to be the problem.
I fall into the mens side of the color spectrum, but am trying really hard to learn the other side, lol! My husband can tell me the womans side anytime, must be becaUse he paints cars, lol!
My adult son just tried to leave the house in black pants and a dark blue shirt. I think I need to garanimal his work clothes. LOL
My husband would make a trip to the green grocer or the garden nursery if I asked in to get any of these for me.
Too funny - green grocery! LOL!!

I don't have this problem. If I need some thread and he wnt to fetch it, and he could not found the right thread , he make the lady to phone me and ask if I will take something else. CLEVER. Hugs Marie

So true. I oil paint and if I say that red has blue in it or whatever the color may be, my husband looks at me like where do you see blue in red. It is really a fun game to play with him. Hugs, Judy

We come down I75 from Detroit and go back 95 and then up to Erie - since we are Canucks we cross over to Canada at Niagara/Buffalo going home...sure wish we could meet up with some of you ... right now my sister and I are at her Condo in Bradenton, I will be here until the 14th Feb then go back to Montreal and come back down 3 April as we have a Western Caribbean Cruise planned leaving frm Ft Lauderdale 14th Apr to 21st, we then will start to drive back to Canada April 14th..

I have been married 28 years and DH still comes to see me and asks "do these two match" when he dresses. Last time I answered "did it match when you wore it lask week"

I know that feeling. and like I wrote , my Hb is colorblind. he sees brown when it's green and red is difficult too.so I don't ask him about colors anymore.

I think it is a nice problem to have - mine won't go shopping for me. Luckily I love to shop and he allows me too (I use his purse you see) so I don't complain at all.

You are too funny! Reminds me of the time my sweetie's son painted his living room a Andy Warhol tomato soup colored red and asked me to to help him buy some red Velvet to be used as swags over sheer draperies for his window. He kept looking at cranberry wine colored velvet and I finally told him that I did not think it would work. And he said "Why not it's red"? I just said to buy what he wanted. He only wanted me to help because I could get a 20% discount.

my husband and I have an agreement: I won't go buy blades for the mower and he won't go buy (or touch, or select, or try to fix) anything that has to do with my sewing machine/embroidery. Works well for us--saves lots of harsh words

if i am desperate i ring the store tell them what i want and ask them if they can have it ready for d/h to collect otherwise he would end up at Bunnings (a local hardware s/store) and come home and say hey could not find it........lol....soozie

The Army told my husband that he is color blind so I would never, ever send him. lol He gravitates to blues and browns and greens he can't define well between them.

Jerrilyn, I never had that problem... He would just tell me that if I wanted it to go get it myself. His second wife did not have that problem either..she did not sew, do crafts or anything else that I knew of. Of course, she cooked , washed dishes and kept a spotless house because she did nothing to mess it up. Hey, I had a life and alot of fun as soon as the husband was gone! My son was 11 before he knew what it was to do much of anything that did not include school! I did let him get involved in sports when he asked but it was a hassel with his Dad around. I grew up playng all kinds of sports and I made sure my son did also! I caused alot of waves about that. At least our son acts nothing like his Dad did!

Since I fall under the men's side of the color chart, lol! Can anyone tell me where I can find a color chart for embroidery threads that I can download or purchase? I have been looking ever since I started embroidering with my machine 2 years ago. I get the strangest names to come up on my machine and all I can do is go WHAT?!?!? Some are self explanatory such as tangerine, but some are One's I've never heard of before. I have to try to find a picture of what I am doing to figure out where I'm at and what color I'm working on. Another thing my machine does is call gold pumpkin, and grey olive, and other weird things like that. Fun, Fun, lol!

If you only use one brand of cotton eg. Sulky, Marathon, etc. then google their website most of them do have colourcharts online and some even sell their colourcharts (ones with the actual cotton wound around next to the name. My Bernina agent gave me one when I bought my Bernina 830 (Marathon) but I know that they sell them too, just ask if they can help !

I'm one of the lucky ones - my husband worked in a haberdashery (men's retail, suits, ties, etc.) while going to college and the first time he talked to me about green being tough to match as some have yellow hues, others blue.... I about fell out of my chair. Now? He'll do a better job with colors than I will. My projects are much improved since I can bounce a look by him. If I need a nice dress? I drag his happy butt with me!

That is sooooo funny, but truth is that many men ARE colour blind and don't even know it until they are tested for it. :-0
Ray just repainted the laundry (without me there to choose the colour) it was supposed to be a soft pastel lemon and very pale grey.
From what he told me it sounds like he painted it the Sunflower on your chart and some kind of battleship grey.
Guess who had to buy more paint and start again? LOL!!!!

Ohhh---that's a very tricky color combination, yellow and grey. That's a task a man should NEVER undertake, picking a yellow and grey color scheme.
My 2 sons are color deficient meaning they can't tell shades of colors. Color blindness or deficiency, is passed from mother to son, but the mother is not color blind. Information from my eye doc.

I would never send my DH to get thread for me, what a disaster that would be. Most often when he shops he gets the wrong size of clothes for himself, he does not have a 32" waist anymore. But I married him for love not his color choices or lack there of. LOL

We went to buy a new sitting room rug. HE chose brown to go with the brown sofa but I bought burgandy to go with the burgandy sofa! All our men friends see it as brown, all out lady friends see it as burgandy. *

I love some of the answers! I don't have that problem as I don't ask him to as like most men burgundy is red, lime green is green, etc. But he does try (he likes to go with me - or should I say take me)!

LOL i find this to be true even when you give them a sample of it to take with them. I learned my lesson long ago. They can't even take a sample of fabric & get a thread to match it. Mine refused to ask the sales clerk to help him./LIllian
