I saw some flowers made from zippers somewhere. They were looped and secured in the middle kind of like a Christmas ribbon bow. A creative wall hanging quilt would be cool. Hay, now you have given me another quilting idea LOL. I googled 'creative uses for zippers' and found jewlery and a zipper diagonally across a tee shirt with another fabric underneath. Wow, have fun with your creativity. I'm going to look for a deal on inexpensive zippers. You better post pictures of your creations because I'm really interested now and will always wonder what you did with your zippers. Want to sell some?

How about an expanding tote bag. Take a large pleat about 4" deep on each side of the bag and use the zippers to hold the pleat inside the bag until you need it to grow.

Joanns had a class at the front of the store one day when I was there on making flowers out of a Red Heavy Dusty Separating ) Zipper. They had a leaflet that you can pick up for free at the heavy duty zipper display. It was surprising how pretty they looked. You could make a pin out of them , Glue to a barrett for you hair, make 2 for clips for a pair of shoes, even add to a package instead of a Bow.

I think you can still use them to make zipper flowers. The color of the background will show through making it a very interesting piece of artwork. I remember seeing in a magazine a few months ago a bag made out of zippers. They had sewn a bunch of zippers of different colors onto fabric and made it into a tote bag or purse. Back the zippers with strips of fabric from the fabric rolls for an interesting look. Hmm, a silerware holder on a placemat with a zipper on the front of the holder. Interesting! Keep on thinking and let us know what you do with them.

Personally I'd use them as if they were regular zips and make some large zip up pencil case style bags or even boxy zip up bags. My children need wide pencil cases so that their ruler can fit in. You could make some padded zip up bags for your scissors, or elastic supply etc. Just another idea :) xXx
