I just found out that I will be a Mimi (grandma) for the 1st time in September. I am soooo excited and of course want to sew, design and embroider everything LOL!! I was wondering if any one knew where I could find a pattern or instructions on making a grocery cart seat cover. These are made so the children sit in the designated area but have some cushion and have toys to play with. I thank you in advance.

you can buy a pattern to make one I just bought one to make. it's a McCalls pattern #5721 and it goes into a bag with a handle so it is easy to take in and out. Not hard to make. Check it out. Roberta

Thank you for posting these! My DIL is MiMi to the 3 grands. Now, the name the GG's call me was given to me by the baby of the 3 and it seemed to stick. It is hard to find! They call me MaMa Linda. They are the step GG's and the baby was born just a month before my son married my DIL. She kept asking me what I wanted them to call me and I would tell her to wait until they got used to me and THEY would pick out the name. It was not until the baby could talk that they finally settled on the name that he gave me.

month before my son married his granny. He was the one that finally gave me a name that stuck with them. Up until then the 2 oldest children called me alot of different things. They already has a MawMaw.

I think all the major pattern companies have these..McCalls, etc. Watch for the patterns to be on sale at Joanns for either 99 cents or $1.99 & get one..,.there's always other things in there too.

I have seen those patterns at mccalls or simplicity. You might also try www.allfreesewing.com. They have great tutorials. I also posted a few days ago an idea that I use a lot. On a shirt, I put "when a child is born, so is a grandma" that I'm sure would look good on you! I can't wait to be a gran other--alas no signs yet.

Congratulations. You can't believe the excitement and enjoyment of a new grandchild. It will steal your heart and take your breath away.
Thinking about a cart cover shows you are already thinking in the right direction. I used the McCall Pattern to make mine.
I like the cart seat cover because it goes over the handle and the baby doesn't get the germs and it is thrown in the washer so it is always sanitary. There is nothing more upsetting than to see a child in a cart chewing on the handle. I know most stores have the hand sanitizer wipes at the entrance to wipe the handles but I wonder how safe the chemicals in those are.
