Uganda Project, quilt 1.

I want to make a BUNCH of quilts to send to HighTechGrammy to be sent to Uganda to the orphanage. I'm really excited about this!! Anyway, here is the first quilt that I finished last night. I thought it would be fun to put a snowman on one. I'm sure these kids do not know what snow is, and so it might be fun to talk about. :)

Here is the center. I thought I could upload two designs at once, but I guess I didn't get it right this time.

how cute. A "Where's Waldo?" quilt would be fun for the kids, only you can name it what ever you wanted and put different objects for them to hunt. Example: the fabric that has scenery and different fruits, flowers, shoes, etc... You have done a wonderful job here, and you certainly are a speedy gonzales. LOL... It takes me too long to make one, I'm too methodical.LOL...

This is a great quilt block - I am not sure they would understand it - but if they talk about it - then they might get informed.

Thank you. I've worked with a lot of kids over the years. I know that they love to hear about things previously unknown to them. It is great fodder for young imaginations. So while they might not understand it, it will be an introduction to something new and different...I hope. :)

A beautiful quilt. I am sure the snowman will be quite a talking point. Without ever seeing snow, they will not comprehend it at all. I remember when my children were small and they would look at the pictures on Christmas cards and wonder what the "white stuff" was. Sarah.

I had a friend in Texas when I was growing up, who had never seen snow before. She wondered if it was what was inside the sides of the freezer. Kids have wonderful imaginations. I would love listen in to that conversation. :)

Wonderful quilt! Did you do this as a 'quilt as you go' quilt? The way you did your strips around looks likes it could be one and it would be easy to do with your surger.
It'll be loved.

There is no batting, so it was very easy to just put the top and back together and then do a little quilting to keep the layers together.
