Can you take someone's idea/saying and make a similar design, legally? I will show/tell what I mean. First, I will tell you WHY I would like it different size and WHY I need it. I work with a lady whose grandson is bullied constantly at school and on the bus. Not just verbally. They beat him up, they kick him and leave goose-egg size knots on his legs, 1 beats, while another holds him down. They need not hold him, because he will not fight back. We don't encourage fighting but he won't defend himself and it is painful for his grandmother and myself to see him in this situation. He is a bright student, very booksmart. He reads constantly, even on the bus.I know because he rides our bus to the 1st school and then he gets on the 2nd bus, where the trouble starts. He admits, he is a nerd because, he doesn't relate to the others, doesn't fit in. BUT a child should not have to cry himself to sleep at night because he dreads what will happen the next school day. He really loves to learn but hates that the boys won't leave him alone. It isn't always the same boy, but the others see that he won't fight so it makes him an easy target. Well, I found this design on Sew Forum but to frame it up into a patch for shirts, makes it a 4x4. What I would like is something smaller,2x3 or 3x4wider than tall, but do like the feet or a few feet on it, with "bullying" being noticable, either different color or font, to really show up in a frame to make a patch.I would like to make a few to hand out free at school to encourage others to stand up to these guys. WE are talking about 5th graders! This child is reading at 9th grade level and loves to learn. It makes me so mad that children can be so hateful.

Why don't you ask the digitizer whom did this to redo it like you want in their Digitizing request forum. They probably be happy to do it for you.

ALL UK schools have anti bullying policies. Schools cannot act unless they are informed. No child should suffer being bullied. This should be reported to the authorities of the educational establishement involved. By not reporting one is condoning the behaviour of the bullies. I am not aware of what a 5th or a 9th grader is. Action needs taking urgently to prevent the boy suffering further and handing out badges will not prevent bullies. If I sound harsh I speak from experience

We have an anti-bullying policy here in Australia too. To explain a 5th grader is a person who is in his/her fifth year of school - we call them Year 5 - still in Primary School. A 9th grader is someone in high school about Year 10 in Australia. Love Chris

There are policies.Policies are no good, if the authorities are unwilling to enforce them.Only when THEIR(authorities) peace of life is threatened are they willing to help.WE Definately are not condoning this type of behavior since WE ARE REPORTING IT, NUMEROUS TIMES!!! I am not so stupid to think ,that handing out badges will prevent bullies, but I thought it would make other students realize that everyone needs to make a stand against these bullies. If others shun them, maybe they will realize if they want any friends they need to change their ways....I am sorry that I brought this up. I too, have ask for help, trying to do SOMETHING to help the situation, and I wish that I would have not posted anything, because instead of helping to make someone else feel better, I feel worse than ever. We just want him safe.I wish that I could take this post back.

If he loves learning and is having a problem with other kids, try homeschooling. I homeschool my 4 kids and they love it. School yards are very toxic sometimes, very damaging to kids.

Not always possible for everyone to home school. Child parents are divorced, Dad works and has coustody, but my friend, the g-mother is the one caring for them. She works 2 jobs, while he and his sister are at school, so home schooling is out of the question.

The words can be designed for you with some sort of shoe or foot. Tonight after work I will take a look at designing this for you. hugs Helen

If you live in the US contact the local District Attorney's Office ask for help. You will need to file a police report. Yes this sounds dramatic but, it must stop. If the school feels like your are going to get the law involved they will step up and do their job. You can also contact the media. They would love to report the neglect of the school. Get him to stand up for his rights. You can set the example by contacting people that will make this stop.

Yes! The District Attorney! Yes make the school responsible. They do not like the police involved, but sometimes you have to do this. Kids do die from bullying. The school is being neglectful. He has the right to be SAFE.

Toogie, I like this design. I hope one of the cuties can work something out for you. My grandson was a victim of bullies, once in 4th grade and again when he was in 6th grade. My daughter tried to get the school to do something, and they told her if he (Zane) didn't come and report it nothing could be done. Well Zane reported it the next time it happened, and they said unless he had some type of physical showing the bullying they couldn't do anything. After that while in the 4th grade, one day Zane was sitting on the ground at recess (top of a hill) and the boy that had been bullying him was approaching him. (mind you Zane was small for his age), anyway Zane kicked his little leg out as the guy walked by the boy fell down the hill. Zane stood up and told him the next time he tried anything, he was going to the police. LOL.... The second time was in the stairway at school (6th grade ). Again, Jess had gone through the proceedures following the policies. One day, this kid wouldn't let Zane pass on the steps, so Zane took it upon himself to "move" the boy. Needless to say the boy got 2 wks detention, Zane received 2 days.(He had witnesses). But since then he doesn't get bullied and has stood up for anyone at school who does get bullied. I'm proud of him for that. We don't encourage fighting back and the Bible does say turn your cheek, but God did give us common sense too. I say like some of the other ladies, get the media, attorney, police, anything to get these kids to stop, before this intelligent young man finds himself in a hospital.

This is how it starts!!!

You may enlarge the design, but first I would contact the digitiser directly, with the letter you have written above, and ask her if SHE would enlarge the design to the size you need.
Any digitise worth her salt will do it for you.
The enlarged design will turn out much better if done by its creator, otherwise you could end up with missing rows of stitches and huge jumps where there should be satin stitches.

Remember, digitisers are people too, we have feelings and some of us are also empathetic to such causes.

It's a pity the boy won't stand up for himself, he'd only have to bop the ringleader, a good one, right on the nose, and the others would think twice about picking on him.

I was bullied at high school because I started late, was from a poor family but very well developed and a brainiac, which made for instant target for other girls.... but not for long!!!!

and the girl I bopped?

There are several foot designs out there and you can add your own words. I'm not completely clear on what you are trying to do, but you could also contact the designer and ask specific questions through the PM channel at Sew Forum.
What you are describing happened to both of my kids. It was horrible. We were getting death threats and everything else. We went to the school officials, police, news, anyone who would listen. "Pass The Buck" seemed to be the game everyone wanted to play. I finally pulled them out of school and home schooled them. I am so very glad that I did. They were not exposed to all of the garbage that young adolescents are exposed to today. They did quite well with their studies, and both had a near perfect score their first year of college. I hate it when kids are the targets of these little brats. Keep trying. Don't be too busy when something comes up. If you can keep the line of communication open, then they can recover. Maybe you could make patches for ALL of the students to wear. Sometimes those who are most influential are the peers. I wish you the best.
Can you imagine what these bullies are going to be like in high school or later if they are only in the 5th grade now?? Very sad. :(

Reading this bought tears to my eyes. Children can be so nasty to each other. Surely something can be done about this situation. The school and the parents should be notified. No child should have to go through this and I hope that something will be done about it soon. Sarah.

Toogie,
First of All, This has to be stopped, or this kid has to be removed from the situation. Period. He has a right to be safe. His life is threatened. Do NOT let his parents send him back to that school until it is safe for him. Putting this design on a shirt for him would be an invitation for those bullies to attack him even more. Call the police, get an attorney and sue the school because they are not making it a safe place to learn. The parents must protect their child. The emotional damage is worse than the physical damage. Get him OUT of this situation - it is threatening his life. NOT even one more day of school at this place for him. He is NOT Safe!

Toogie, I feel so sorry for your friend's grandson. No child should have to put up with bullying. If you've notified the school, the school board and they are no help, go to the district attorney in your area and report it. Also go to the news media and tell them. They love a story like this and putting the spotlight on it will not only help your friend, but others who are being bullied. Hugs to you and your friends.

So sorry to read about the trouble he is having. It is a pity that some kids are brought up to be bullys. All I can do is pray for him and for a change in attitude for the bullys and I will do that. Hope the problem gets sorted out soon. Hugs.

Years ago I had this problem (son being threatened with a weapon in his back in the halls at school!) He told me that afternoon & I was on the phone with the principal within minutes. I told them they had ONE day to straighten this out, call the kid & parents in; and then I was going to the police as well as the newpaper. It was handled the next morning & the kid was so shocked that anyone would report what he had done, he never came near my son again. BUT that was years ago when kids actually responded to authority..today, I'm not sure. However, I agree with the other ladies; if the school isn't going to handle it, the law can.

It has been resolved. I was just trying to explain why I needed the pattern, to make others aware of this problem, and to take a stand against bullying.I am not so ignorant to think that handing these out will stop the bullies but it would make others aware (example: cancer ribbons haven't cured cancer). I was offended with that remark. This whole experience has been stressful for everyone, I ,for one, don't need more . Please don't post anymore responses to this and I will try to stay out of Community. I did enjoy it previously-Toogie

It is very sad this is happening in our schools, and more frecuently than we think, the t shirt is not going to help, in my opinion it is going to make it worse, I was a 5th grade teacher for 27 years! Make an appointment with the school principal and if this is not solve, then go to the school board , then to news reported someone has to stop this, I am afraid for the safety of this child. Pray for everything to be solve quickly.

I don't know where you live but here in NY we have a STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION in ALbany and when our local schools turn a deaf ear to these kind of problems we go above them to the state board and believe me when this board gets involved the schools get off their duffs and take care of the problem no if's ands or buts!! Check and see if you don't have a state board and write or call them explaining this dangerous situation and i'm sure they will handle it post haste!!!!
