Welcome to Cute. It used to be that every time you visited you had a flower. Now you get flowers by joining in the chatting and all the other mad things that go on here. What machine do you have, I have a Brother Galaxie 3000 and a PR 650. Not fsl is not free standing lace

The flowers are given to members when the posts on cuteis or when you comment or post on some elses post, it is green at first and when someone clicks on it, it will change to orange and that means you have gathered another flower.
FSL means free standing lace, which is designs embroidery on water soluble stabilizer and once the design is completed, put in water it will stand on its on. WELCOME TO CUTE AND IF YOU DONT MIND, TELL US WHERE YOU ARE FROM,

Welcome to Cute. You have gotten the answer to your questions already. Let me add that their is never a dumb question. When I started with Cute my fist post was also about the flowers. Just one thing. When asking a embroidery question start in Public with your post. You will get more answers. Personal is more non embroidery topics and isn't read by a lot of the members. Hope to see a lot of you.
P.S. All I know about embroidery I learned here. This is the most helpful bunch of people.

The one thing I learned many years ago is that there is no question that shouldn't be asked because someone else may have the same question but are too timid to ask. Your answer may help someone else too.
Enjoy you machine but be aware that embroidery is addictive.

Just to be clear on FSL, you will see designs that are Christmas ornaments or baskets or angels that are not embroidered onto fabric. They start with 2 layers of a fiber looking stabilizer that when it gets wet is dissolves so that all that is left is the thread but it dries stiff because the stabilizer is actually starch. I am going to post of pic of angels that have been sent to me since I have been sick, they are all FSL (free standing lace). They are fun to watch being done and amazing to see after drying.
