Had a horrible day yesterday. I am staying in Johannesburg for a week and my daughter told me not to shop where I wanted to shop. She was right. I was stopped by a woman who kept tugging at my sleeve asking questions. While I was being destracted her accomplice helped him/ herself to my purse. I lost all my credit cards, photos, and bits of my life. It shook me up terribly. Spent most of the afternoon canceling cards. My daughter then took me out tea and bought me a beautiful new purse.
I am still furious with myself. The purse only had a few coins as I keep all notes in a zipped up compartment in my bag. Sarah.

I'm sorry to hear that you had your purse stollen. We had to go through all that canceling things when our house was broken into. Why can't people spend as much time doing good as they do bad? Hope you are feeling better by now. Hugs, Judy

Went to the bank today - good to see that everything is fine. Just have to wait 7 working days for new cards.
So you will save a lot of money without your cards ;o) I could not imagine to go out without mine (have no creditcard; here in Germany most people have a Eurochequecard and if your bankbalance is empty the card does not work!).
This gives you always a good limit and sometimes you have to be nice and ask your bank adviser to lift up your limit for a special occasion...

So sorry, Sarah, for this to happen to you. It certainly makes for a very BAD day!! It is a shame we have to be so on guard these days, but it is now a fact of life, and necessary to protect ourselves. Hugs to you as you get past this aggravating frustation!

It doesn't feel good to be robbed-I know. When I was single and young and lets face it city dumb.
I had my apartment broken into 3x in different places. Personally, I had a razor cut my purse and they stole my wallet in a busy crowded bus. You
really have to be careful when you travel or in certain areas. Always listen to the locals they know. Glad to hear you are personally okay and CC's are canceled. Your daughter is a sweetie.

So sorry to hear that Sarah, it makes you mad at them for doing it and at yourself for letting it happen. I know I try to be very careful with my purse, all zippers and stuff and hang on extra tight. Around here what drives me crazy is woman who leave their purse in the child seat of a shopping cart either wide open for anyone to reach in or they walk to the other side of the isle! They are tempting fate and even after reading it over and over in the newspaper they still do it!

I can imagine that rattled you horribly. I hope that you managed to remember everything that was in your wallet and that no one gets scammed as a result of the thief. Sometimes I carry two bags. One is my "purse" and then my book bag. I put my wallet in my book bag, and other junk in my purse. Very disappointing should anyone try to snatch and run.

Ah yes - Johannesburg - the crime capital of the world. Just another "normal" day. I am glad that it was not a violent violation - which is also quite normal in JHB.

Oh Sarah, I am so sorry to hear that!! I have just arrived back from Jhb (hubby stayed behind and had heart cramps etc, so I flew home!!) and although I had no problems I find some of the people very aggressive and the traffic is just awful!!!
