This might sound like a silly question but I would like your opinion. When you make a bowl you have a right side and a wrong side or top and bottom side. After you have sewn it together do you make the right side of the bowl the inside and the wrong side the outside which you really don't see much. Gee I hope you can understand all of this.

I make the right side the inside. The design is seen better than if on the outside I think.

The right side is usually that little bit nicer.

Yep, I understand you Lyn - after all I'm like you - a South Australian too!!!!
I also agree with Bev and would make the inside the right side - as you look into the bowl. I suppose it also depends on how big the bowl is! Love Chris

When you purchase a bowl, the design is on the inside. The plain side is the outside since it can't be seen as well.

I have never purchased one.

that is what I was wondering while sewing my bowl together.. I made the inside the right side.. since I used the same bobbin thread they both look great.. but I can tell..

When you are sewing a bowl I like the top so I have made this the inside.
I use the same bobbin thread but the wrong side to me always looks a little dull.
If someone sticks their nose that close, they are TOO close! Don't fret. Which ever side you see the most. If you sit and see it on the table, put the shinier on the outside. Jo

if you fill it with something and sit at a kitchen table, wouldn't you want to look at the good side?

Really don't know. Guess you could use it both ways.

I say if it's your bowl& you get to decide the way to place the designs. So enjoy the project& God's blessings.:~D

I would make the right side for the inside of the bowl because when you take it in your hands you see the inside, and when you place it onto a piece of furniture you see the inside. Even though you use the same thread in the bobbin as well, as I do, you can see that the right side looks much better.
I would use the right side for outside only if the bowl has high panels.

It depends on the shape of the bowl.

Lyn, what a wonderful question - whichever you like best - is how I would do it - which I have done both - depending on the bowl.

Thanks Shirlene, Thought you would know if anyone did. I agree some look great either way - like the Owl bowls, but others don't
