OK Cuties...I have a question. If we download a design from a particular site and have problems with our ccomputer afterward do you want to be warned? I recently had a problem with a site and wanted to warn you but, it appears I may have offened some of you. Please understand this is NOT my intent. I truley appreciate all the time and effort all the wonderful designers offer to us for free and at low cost. My warning was not to offend. I lost many designs and do not want anyone else to damage their computer or lose designs that they spent time and money to download. So please let me know how something like this is suppose to be handled in the future. I know I am not the first to have this happen. I do NOT want to offend anyone! Thank you.

Personally I think it is a good idea,though I downloaded the free from embr Denmark in SHV yesterday and got something funny , not a design at all and a warning from Norton that it had to be dealt with ( I deleted it, but where is it lol). I did not warn other cuties, why I do not know.

You said you dl the coffee font from her site and it added extra files! The font is zipped. So If it was her site that you blatantly accused how? How can her file on her site have affected your computer if you didnt open the zip? Many other cuties have also posted they havent had a problem. I commented because your post is absolutely damaging to her business when she is clearly not at fault. Warn away if correct.

I'm really sorry. Like I said I have no intent to hurt the owner of the business. I only wanted to help others who may get a problem. I only d/l the coffee font in a separtate folder. When I opened the foleder many other files were in there including the coffee font. that's all I did and all I can say. My apologzies.
I have had several sites that have shut down my computer and some where my compute told me there was a threat. I will not go to those sites anymore and the above comment is the reason I have kept them to myself and just will not go there. Sorry you had to feel bad about trying to warn people.

If somebody has a problem caused by a dl from a page and she/he writes it in a polite tone I don't see this as offending. There were several pages that get hacked and the owner did not know it and had nothing to do with it. But better keep the damage within a limit.

How often did I see posts about turquoise-blog that people have warnings while dl there and I never had a problem. Sometimes it depends on your virus-scan but maybe you can help other cuties with the same problem :o)

Yes, warn us. The site may have encountered a new virus. You should also try to contact the site owner so they know what happened. Circle Cent has never been a problem for me either and I'm sure the owner would like to know the nature of the problem. You should contact her because it happened to you and you would be able to describe the problem most accurately. There is a "contact me" link on her site so you can email easily. There is also a Facebook link, if you connect there you can tell her privately or publicly.

Since so many people have not had a problem you may consider that you got a virus from something else. Viruses are sneaky.

I appreciated the warning and waited to download to see if others had this problem too. And yes you should try to contact the owner of the site to let them know. If it is only on your computer you can informs us afterwards too

I appreciate warnings too-even it turns out to be just a minor glitch-and quite frankly, no one should be offended if someone has had alerts or warnings pop up on their computers from dl designs.I had that happen to me for awhile from a very popular site half way through daily alphabet collection-I finally gave up on trying to collect anymore but whatever the problem was-other cuties experienced also-it did get cleared up, but it was very annoying- So for those that feel you were out of line- tough!

Warn us where ever you have a problem. I will not sign up to anymore sites for freebeis as I have been getting tons of junk emails each time I do. The owners may not realise they have had the email base hacked. So keep the warnings coming. hugs Helen

be safe and do a hard copy on DVD every couple of months so you always have your designs in case something happens to your computer external hard drives and memory sticks are fine but hey can also fail external hard drives are very sensitive a good knock or drop and it can kill it rarely the info can be retreived i hope i have not frightened you but my thoughts is back up your designs on DVD....soozie

I definitely say warn us and notify the site owner as well. One of my all time favorite quilting sites suddently began shooting out warnings on everyone's computer. The owner was totally unaware that a new virus had hacked her site and was most grateful for an alert customer warning her and others so the damage was limited. Hugs, Carol

Did you say what site? I must have missed that. I had to replace a computer and now I will not hook it up to the internet. I also do not do blogspots especially if they are using a file share like media fire. I do not do foreign new sites like I used to. Better safe than sorry.
