This is how tuned in my husband is, or maybe it's tuned out. For my birthday he ordered from Amazon a gift and paid extra to have them wrap it. He even kept it a secret because he knows I like surprises. When I opened it, it was a pair of Fiscars scissors, not anything any different than we could buy at the grocery store. He said, "I knew you liked scissors." Does this make sense to any of you?

He was trying so hard to please you - so he got you something he thought you would like - not knowing that the sort of scissors that you like are a different quality. I hope you gave him and kiss and thanked him.

Rick was trying to get the credit card today - in hopes of getting me some flowers for Valentine's Day - so I asked him what he wanted - he told me he wanted a pair of moccasin’s and then I told him - that I really liked roses as he knew - but I would rather have a really nice nightgown - so we went on line and bought them for each other - got them at the same place, too. We both will have a great Valentine's Day when we receive our gifts. Hehehe!

That's a great way to shop :-). I actually laughed in disbelief, but acted just that he had paid to have it wrapped. I told him I gave him permission to "wrap" in a grocery bag. He also gave me some nice things too, but I just couldn't believe he actually bought on line something he could have purchased at the grocery store for much less He was pleased he surprised me. IT was a surprise.

actually ordered something he could have picked up at the grocery. He was happy he surprised me. He is the sweetest husband and great dad, but sometimes...

Just as we know little about our husband's "tools", they really know LESS about ours, Jan!! LOL I think it was a sweet gesture of his trying to get you something truly useful to help you with all your stitching and crafts! If I bought my husband a wrench, I dare say he would have ten just like it, and better ones (the "Super Duper" kind)!! LOL
Hope your day was great on the 4th! Belated "Happy Birthday"!
Hugs,
Angel

I think it was really sweet of him to do that for you-he wanted to get you something practical that you like-his heart was in the right place. At least he didn't forget your birthday-then you really would have had a reason to something to be perturbed about.

Well - it was sweet of him that he even thought that you would love them...and most men don't like to shop, and would rather do it on the internet. One of my friends asked for a rotary cutting mat for Christmas...her DH ordered it from Nancy's Notions when he could have gone down to JoAnn's and used a coupon. LOL So, yes, guess it makes sense to me...the male's way of shopping.

That's funny, mine buys the gift and walks in the door and says, "I bought your gift, want it now?" If I say no he says I won't like it, I'll return it or sell it on ebay, he can't wait! So, as of last week I have been wearing the beautiful blue gemstone butterfly necklace he bought me!

Don't look for "sense" if you are taking about men :-)
The most important thing is that he bought something he know you would love and he bought it with all his heart. What else do you need? Pure love.

Thanks for all your comments. I especially liked Zoe's Don't look for "sense" if you are taking about men :-) I guess they say the same thing about women. We really do come from different planets, don't we :-) He also got me a new membership to Cute, some Emb Lib designs, new closet organizer shelves for my sewing room closet - and the very same DVD and the very same CD he got me last year! So, you see, I'm pretty darn spoiled! He does hate to shop :-) Bless his heart! Thanks friends for helping me make some sense out of this :-)

That's sweet of him to try to find the perfect gift. My DH has tried over the years and saves the receipt just in case he chooses wrong. He says it the thought that counts and wants me to get it exchanged if it's something I can't use.

It makes a lot of sense to me. How wonderful that he went to all that trouble to have a surprise present that he knew you'd love and use. You must be very special to him.

I love my Fiscars. Would never use any other kind. He may not know you can buy them close by. Got to give him credit for being so thoughtful. Some men don't remember B-Days. I would be thrilled if my dear hubby were still with me and bought some for me. Hugs...
