Question of the day: Have you made a reference out of felt of all of the stitches that your machine comes with & if not do you plan to?

this was something that was reccomended to me when I first got my machine. That was some time ago & although I did start the process I have not actually finished it. It's one of those things that I know I should do but there are sew many other creative things to do first! But when I run out of those things I'm sure I will do it!

I did do that for one of my machines, now I do not remember which one or if I even have the sample. I did it cause I really like the hand made samplers and I thought it would be cool. Embroidery is much cooler! Live Laugh Download Stitch!

I did that for all my machines, starting in 1963 with my Elna, not on felt but on cotton, but did not do the with the Ruby - too many.

I had to make a name tag for GS halloween costume, now I have a felt with Dr Gloss in all the fonts and sizes of each. And I have used it to look at. Just never found the time to do all those and the stitches. Good idea , though.

I did this when I first got my machine and it was a help for quite awhile.

I did that when I first got the machine. It is useful, and I refer to it occasionally when I'm unsure how dark or wide (my machine has a 9mm stitch width plus bidirectional sewing and this was all new to me). because some were wider than I thought, I used more canvas than I expected. Felt? Is it better on felt? I've been thinking of re-doing it and putting them up where I can see them.

I have made a little "book" sewn down the center from tear away stablizer to sample all the stitches from all my machines.

No - never did, but I do stitch a little on a similar fabric before I do it on my project. There are so many variations of each stitch that I never seemed to have the time to make a sample book. Some of the stitches I have never used.

Yes it was one of the first things I did when I bought my machine. I placed them all in a booklet so I can refer back to it when needed,

Well I did start on doing that when I got my first embroidery machine....it would make a good reference though.

No. I usually choose a stitch and then resize it to suit the purpose.
I never thought of making a little book from actual stitch-outs - seems like a good idea .... one day when I have nothing to do ..... maybe.

Yes I have done it with 2 earlier machines, but not the one I have now. May get around to it one day. What puts me off is, it has so so many stitches. The ones I have done I did on double calico.

I have made a cover for my machine (Mondriaan style) using all the different stitches and have a reference folder to which stitch is what. Then I upgraded my machine and it has even more different stitches one day......
