I am trying to determine the lifetime of the embroidery machine, mine sew far is 11 & the bobbin winder is dying!

Well - My machine is 5 years old...and I am thinking of upgrading to a larger hoop machine, at least on one of them. I have had very few issues with mine.

Around 15 years old and still going strong. It may be older than that. Years go by way to fast and I loose track of them. Hugs, Judy

Mine is 9 years old, but I'm worried what happens when the computer goes out - do I just throw it out, or repair it for the huge expense. It sews beautiful. I have a Singer that is 38 years old and still sews great!

What is wrong with your bobbin winder? Might it be the rubber ring that presses against the main flywheel to make the bobbin spin? My straight stitch sewing machine - circa 1958 - had this ring dry out and was a simple and cheap thing to get a replacement ring and pop it on. Hope yours may be that simple! My first emb. machine was a White 3300 (made by brother and discontinued)4x4 and is about 9 yrs old.
My Brother 780D 4x4 and 5x7 will be two years old this coming November.
My viking computerized regular machine is almost 14 yrs. old. White Serger is about 12 yrs old.

my first embroidery machine was a Janome 8000 and I wore that one out.. the main board in it died when it was about 14 years old and so I traded it in on my brother 4000d and that one is 8 years .. the board would cost to much to replace and it was already out dated.. I have a Janome 9000 that I only sew on now plus a 6600p Janome for every day sewing and then my Quattro which is about 2 years old.. fun machines and I also have a surger that is 19 years old and still going strong..

Mine are six and twelve. Wouldn't consider changing them out with the high cost of newer ones. As long as I can keep them running they will get repaired. But I have the same feelings regarding vehicles. Fifteen years old, looks decent, runs well, needs maintenance every now and then; which is nothing compared with the cost of new.

My Brother is 10 yrs. and Babylock is 2yrs.

Seven months, It is a Brother Innovis 90E 4x4 hoop and in September DH said I will get the bigger one whoopie!!

mine is one year , and my new Brother is three months, I got fed up with the small hoop. I was going to sell the small hoop when I got my new one , but they both have a good job to do.If you need a small design, why hoop up the big hoop with stabalizer, I still use my small one .Hugs Pam.

I have had mine for 8 years and it is still going strong.

My first one (Brother 780D) is about two years old and my second one (Brother Quattro 6000D) is about one year old. Kept the smaller one as a back-up so I don't go through withdrawls if the big one is at the hospital.

Brother ULT is 11 yrs
Amaya XT is 5 yrs
Brother Quattro 2 6700D is 4 months

If your machine is working well and embroidering nicely then you probably can just have the bobbin winder repaired.

I was quite shocked when I purchased the Quattro at the prices of the new machines. I even got mine about $2000 off plus a lot of pricey extras during a big promotion and it was still a tremendous amount of money for me.

My ULT 2001 still sews and embroiders beautifully at age 11 and I still use it often. These machines have a very long life span.

When my old Singer Golden Touch n Sew died about 5 years ago I thought I could not stand to have to fill a bobbin manually. Apparently I had one of the few that the automatic bobbin fill worked perfectly. That really spoiled me. It was 35 years old when it became more expensive to repair it than it was worth or I would still be sewing on it for mending and such things. Not only am I addicted to embroidery I was addicted to that old Singer machine too.

Another issue to consider! Do you want one of the new 'Over The Top Multi-Function Machines'? If you do and don't mind the cost then go for it. Until the 22nd Brother is having another promotion. Some of the other brands may be as well. Even if you take the plunge for a new machine you should still have your bobbin winder repaired and keep your other machine too.

You obviously enjoy embroidery or you wouldn't be here on the 'Cute' list. You have been through quite a lot with your health. Perhaps it is time to treat yourself to a new 'WOW' machine.

My Janome 10000 is 5 years old and the Janome 350E is 5 months old.

I love my Bernia 730 E and it's (she's) about 3 yrs. old.

Must've hit cancel, not submit lol. Mine is 13 years old I think, but new-to-me about 2 years ago. I'd like a hoop bigger than 4x4 but that means buying a new machine. :) xXx

I had to have my original machine (defective) replaced last summer under warranty, so mine is just an infant at 6 months old. The original would have been just a tad over a year old.

i think if you can afford it go for it! Mine has been broken & I have been saving up now for months! It's been a struggle but it will be sew worth it!

I have my original HusqvarnaViking Designer 1, bought new in 1999 and I also have a HV Designer Diamond, bought lightly used in June, 2011. Love, love, love my Designers. Hugs. Nan W

I have my Bernina 180 brought in 1997, runs like a dream , Bernina 440, love it to bits and the new Bernina 830 , and it is mind blowing all it can do , just the lge sized hoop you can double up designs and does it all at 1000 stitches a minute . I just love Bernina . Cathy

Bought my Janome 300E in 2007,sold it to a friend 2010. Had my 350E for about 2 years. Can't imagine being without one.

2 years 2 months, hubby bought it for me when I got cancer the first time so I'd have something to do while I was sick from chemo. I always loved embroidered clothes and planned to make all my clothes match but so far all I have done is make gifts and given them away, lol!

My Brother 780D is a year old. Just love it! Always an embroidery machine. Enjoy being able to ask questions and get answers. The dealership went out of business that I bought my machine at so need all the help I can get.

My Babylock Ellageo is about 3 years old, I bought it off E-Bay with just 14,000 stitches on it and most of the accessories still in their original packaging.

My New Home / Janome 8000 is 20+ years old, and has never needed anything but routine maintenance. It's my workhorse for sewing but I still pull out the cards and embroider with it.

It's 1st birthday will be in 2 weeks time! Given me lots of pleasure already - looking forward to much, much more!

I sold my older Brother because I had after 5 years big fights with it. I bought 4 years ago a Janome MB4 and I love it. 2 years ago I also bought a Janome MC 11000 because it is easyer to take but Only the big hoop can keep me for selling it. Maby a Brother PR1000 will come in for me now. I love to make big things from Emblibrairy and need more space and a big hoop and also a large ship with money.

Will see what is comming up because just with a computer, if you buy it it is already old.
