Question Of The Day: well I have been asking alot about machines & hoops & today I would like to know what hoop you use the most!

I would like a larger one but I'm not sure I should buy a "NEW" machine just for the larger hoop

GREAT Question!!:)
I only have the 4x4 hoop and wish I had a larger hoop or a machine that I could use a larger hoop on. I miss out on so many beautiful designs that can not be made smaller and work properly. I too want to see what others that have larger hoops say. I am wondering if I get a new machine, will I be happy with it if the hoop size is 5x7 or will I still feel the same way about missing out?

I use the 5x7 most of the time - do have larger hoops, but I am like you - do I buy a new machine just so I can have larger hoops?

I have 5 hoops with my machine. I have so far used the 4X4 the most. But that's partly to do with the projects I started with and have ended up doing more of. Will be using the bigger hoops more as I go along.

I use my 5 x 7s the most, the 4 x 4 and 6 x 10 tends to run in spurts depending on what the current project(s) is.

I use my 5*7 the most. I use my 4*4 for most of my FSL and when I can for other things. I use my "big" hoops for larger projects (mostly in the hoop things) - they are something I use all the time.

I use my 6x10 the most and would love to have a machine with the ability to use the 8x12 or 8x8 for quilt blocks and wall hangings.

What size hoop have you got. I have two brothers . one i have had a year 4x4 hoop. I got fed up with seeing loads of things I wanted to do that was bigger. I got a cheeper Brother 7x5 hoop of off E bay. I am very pleased with both of them . can I say if you can make do with small hoop it takes less stabalizer. Hugs Pam

I have the very small hoop - which I don't use much, as well and 4x4 and 5x7 plus Bernina's 150x360 multi position hoop (I don't use it as much as I would like to because it is a little too narrow for what I want to do. I do love my 5x7 hoop and use it the most. I also use the 4x4 regularly. Hope you can deside.****

Interesting. I probably use the 5x7 the most. I have a 6x10 but would love at least an 8x8 for blocks. xx

Hummm, probably the 4x4, 5x7 and the 170x100 are the ones I use the most. Can't say which one would be the MOST. I do have the endless and mega hoops but haven't used them in 3 yrs. If I had the ability to use the 200x200, I would that the most. That's because I do a lot of quilting and it would be a great size for that. Wish I could afford a new machine but no time soon.
Good luck on your purchase.

I have the 4x4 and 6x10 and use them equally but I really would like a couple in between because many of the designs I like are just a bit larger than 4x4 and using the bigger hoop wastes stabiliser. Resizing to a smaller design isn't always what I want to do.

Ideally I'd love a bigger hoop for picture designs, too, but this can be overcome with the Split Design facility. I don't do picture designs but I'd love to so that I could do larger projects.

Basically my stitching is limited to size of hoops I already have.
However, If I ever am in the position of buying another machine hoop sizes will be a Big Factor in the decision making.

Good question Loralye. I only have a 4x4 hoop and I have often wondered if it would be worth my while getting another machine. At my age (getting towards 70) I have decided that the expence would not be worth it. Hope you are feeling better. Hugs Sarah.

I have all the hoops available for my machine which is 5 and I use the oval that uses 5x7 size the most as it can withstand up to almost 9 inches in height and 5 1/2 wide. I do most sweatshirt fronts with that.

I've got 7 hoops for my Husqvarna Designer 1 and mostly use the 5x7 and the 4x4 for smaller things. Love Chris

The largest hoop that I have is 260 x 400 (10.24" x 15.75") I have used it a lot for quilting and I also buy and use the 8 x 8 designs. I think that I use my 8 x 10 hoop almost the same amount.

I think I use the 5x7 the most with the 8x8 being next. It's not often that I use the smaller hoops.

I use the 5X7 the most, my 7X12 is o.k. but some time it seems the machine want to disfiqure the design at the end of the long side, seems to stretch alittle, so try to stay away from it. also use my 4x4. don't use little one at all. I wish my machine had heavier hoops
