Does anyone know where I can get a tep by step tutorial on how to do FSL? Like what type of stablilizer, how many layers, etc, etc. I have never done one and would like to try one.

FSL is the easiest and very rewarding.
1. Start with a good design
2. Hoop 2 layers of Vilene or washaway stabilizer-some people use 3- I use 2 and just fine
3. Use same thread in top and bottom bobbin
4. Start your embroidery machine and hit go

I do this too, but have to slow down my machines speed to about have
The only other thing I would add is to use a small needle, I use size 11. And sometimes I have to slow down my machine a little too. Just go for it! It is FUN!

I use 2 layers of WWS (Wash Away). I always use the same colour in my bobbin as I am using on the top. You need a sharp needle, so start with a new needle. When you buy a FSL design, most times they will give you hints of how and what to use. I am sure that you will get a lot of helpful hints from others. Good Luck

I started with 2 layers of ultrasolvy - too much. Then I did 1 layer Ultra, 1 layer - solvy, much better. Now I usually try just 1 layer of badgemaster, it all depends on the design. Safest is 1 thick 1 thin. I patch and restart if I have a problem. I also use 50 wt cotton thread, most designs are 40wt. Rinse out is personal preference some or all! Live Laugh Download Stitch!

Mine is to use "Serelon" polyester sewing thread in needle and bobbin. This thread sews beautiful, sturdier lace and comes in all colours. Does not have the same sheen as emb thread though.
Size 12 needle and slow down the machine. All info is from my 'Brother'dealer, She is fab and gives us lessons,also digi lessons.

I am unable to slow down my machine while it is embroiderying. I tried what I thought was the lever for it and than called brother, I was told that only works for sewing on my particular machine.
Oh! I have a brother Innovis 1500 and I can choose (I think)1 of 3 diff speeds In the Embroidery Mode, before stitching the design.
