Scissors question : How many do you have, and why do you use them ? If possible show me a picture since it is sometimes difficult to understand the English terms.

More than one person should have as I am on a quest for the perfect embroidery scissor for me, but so far my favorite is the tweezer, it is easier on my fingers.....

My Havel squeezers are my favorite embroidery tool, too.

I use one like this to cut paper decorations, like 3D cards. It's a lovely tool to use. And yes sometimes I use it to cut the little thread-ends too.

I have probably a dozen embroidery type scissors. My favorite by far is the Heritage embroidery scissors at the link shown below. They have a super sharp point, just the right curve, cut right and left handed and the holes are large and coated so they don't hurt your fingers.

I have these and love them! Bought them at my dealer on a whim, and they turned out to be best thing I ever bought there! She only had the one pair or I'd have a spare as well.

About 12 pairs. Best pair is Gingher from when they were made in Brazil, also the best pinking sheers is Ginger also made in Brazil. (The person that sharpens them said to guard them carefully as the newer ones are not nearly as nice.)I have applique sissors, snipping sissors (that snip right up to the point) embroidery, 2 pair of WISS that were my mothers. The sharpener guy also said these are treasures. All the others are for paper, crafting, etc. The above ones are the ones that no one touches but me! LOL

Found Curved Blade Cuticle Scissors like in the link in the medicine cabinet after buying the embroidery machine. Gave them a try to clipping jump threads and found them perfect for that.

I love Kai scissors too

Just discovered these and got my boss to get some for work. That way I get to try lots of different ones. I got the small curved blade ones for myself. They all cut so smooth and easily for my hands-I have RA.

Kai will sharpen all of their scissors..I believe all you need to do is send $5.00 US and they will sharpen and return prepaid...I think that's the deal.

I have more than this - but I took this picture for another post - years ago about the tools of the trade - so you will get this - rather than just my scissor collection - but I might consider taking a picture - another time.

Quite a few but my favoutite one is a little scissor with a plastic handle and curved blade. I ordered them by post when I was ordering some thread. They are just wonderful for cutwork and applique. They were just a bit more than one US dollar!!!

Hi Zoe, I have a dozen in my sewing room and 2 pairs of tweezers too. Love Chris

P.S. My favourite are the large pair in the centre which is a Kai Micro-serration pair. Then the little Gingher gold handled embroidery scissors.

Thank you all for your replies. I didn't know so many scissors were used/could be used. I have only one for the moment. Need do buy some I guess. The ones with the super sharp point seems to be handy. Have to look for a shop or on internet..
