Not living in the USA, I have no idea what a 'fat quarter' is. On closer inspection it looks like 4 pieces of material, which I imagine is used for quilting? A very colourful present Carolyn. Sarah.

a fat quarter is a cut of fabric 18x22. There are lots of quilting projects hat call for fat quarters. You can buy them in bundles and get a nice assortment of colors.
