Hi Cuties What is your thread preference, polyester or rayon? and why. I have got both.

Good question!
I like polyester for ease of use. Rayon has a nice sheen, but it will shrink in the dryer. ~ Nancy

Polyester is my choice. Stronger thread, doesn't fade and holds up well with repeated washing.

Rayon thread has more shine and I believe it lays nicer, great for elegant things. Polyester is great for the kids and things that get washed often. It will hold up longer. Special items without a lot of wear deserve the rayon, but the rough and tumble crowd need the poly.

I do best with cotton! Polyester and I do not get along, however I am trying. It is the tension and it splits and frays on me. I am gonna put into another machine so I do not have to adjust the tension and see if I can overcome this block. I love rayon as it doesn't need the adjustments that poly does.

I like either, my machine prefers poly.....it breaks the rayon threads horribly.....in fact it is a picky machine with most threads when it embroiders and does best with Isacord which is what the manufacturer recommends.....don't know why, but that's the way it is.......

I vote for Polly but i can use from the cheapest to the most expensive ,just a wee tension adjustment lol hugs

I use both. My machine much prefers rayon and I love the sheen of the rayon. My favourite thread is the Mettler viscose/ rayon. Sarah.

When I had my first machine, husqvarna designer 1 , she wanted only rayon Sulky, which are very expensive. Now, with my new machine Ruby, I can use any tread, all are good, so I buy now only the cheapest, polyester, those of Metro have varied colours, and a good shine.

my personal experience with my wonderful machine is that it really doesn't seem to matter which threads I use. It does perfect with all of them. I also have a tendency to use both in the same design, just depends on which color I need. I don't have the same colors in both types so I just use what I need.

I use more polyester than rayon. Most of mine comes from Metro tho I have ordered RA from Shoppers rule when they have had a really good sale. The polyester is better for the laundry. I use the rayon when something is not going to be put in the dryer. Hugs, Mary

Years ago I used just rayon but as polyester improved in quality I have moved to that. I believe polyester holds up better in the wash and I do mainly kids things and towels these days.

I use both. My machine prefers rayon. Itleaves little loops when I use poly.

Poly all the way. It is stronger and launders better than Rayon.

I use only polyester, because my machine likes it, and because it launders so well. I've even bleached it and it's held up

I only have polyester as that was what was mentioned by cuties because of the laundering, so that was what I got and love it.

I only use polyester also. I have bought some rayon but I don't really use it. I bought Maderia's thread chest and have had a great time exploring the possibilities.

I'm like most others, my machine and I prefer poly but I do have some rayon.

I like rayon, they have lovely colors and beautiful shine. I don't embroider baby or children items or items that get washed continuosly so don't know the difference. Hugs, Lidia

Years ago the machine I was using was Janome MC 9000 and had problems with threads. I have been advised to get Isacord so I have ordered quite a few colors, without seen them first. I got horrible colors and what I have embroidered had no shine. It has been a bad purchase. Hope that in the meantime they have been improved, but I won't buy them anymore.
It has been a bad purchase and won't buy them anymore.
I got some Christmas colors and used it for FSL. I agree, it doesn't have much shine. I bought some so I could get the free FSL ornamate CD. Hugs..Carol
I find Isacord sews beautifully but I do not like the fact that it has very little sheen. I will not buy it again.

I use both. I love the shine of rayon and use Robison Anton. Have used it on towels, place mats, wall hangings and tee shirts. I tried the Metro poly a little over a year ago and have been very happy with that too. Also have used the Isacord poly for FSL. Hugs..Carol
